During this trip, the following goals are supported;

Victoria Falls Waterfront Lodge is 100% owned by a Zimbabwean. To save water, 99% of the water used at the lodge is filtered and reused.

They also support the Kwame school and offer a six-month training course in hospitality to students graduating in this field, to give them a good start for their future after their studies.

Nkwazi Lodge in 100% is owned by a Namibian and the staff are local residents. The lodge owner has set up a small school and provides 40 to 50 children with three meals a day and education to prepare them for their first year of primary school.

They also offer financial support to 40-50 primary and secondary school pupils and a number of university students. The guided tours of the local village provide financial support to local residents.

The lodge also uses 25% of its electricity from solar energy, and 50% of the vegetables required by the lodge are grown on site.

Terra Africa guesthouse in Windhoek is 100% Namibian-owned and all staff are local residents. Glass and plastic are sorted on site for recycling, and the cleaning products used are all biodegradable.

The Okavango Kopano Mokoro Community Trust is supported by entrance fees and camping fees that are paid to them, thereby covering the salaries of the traditional “polers”.

Furthermore, polers are encouraged to invest in the purchase of a replica made from fibre, rather than the traditional mokoro, which is made from a hollowed-out sausage tree and lasts only five years. This will help to prevent the sausage tree from disappearing.

Thebe River Safaris is run by local Motswana owners and provides employment to 89 Motswana staff.

The lodge grows its own vegetables and buys from local small-scale farmers. All waste is separated and recycled.

Although the lodge is situated on the river, the camp asks guests to conserve water as much as possible and uses LED lighting throughout the camp to save energy.

Number of participants:
Our camping safaris are conducted in small groups to offer the best and most flexible programme possible.

Small groups mean more time for the traveller, shorter waiting times and a cosy, personal atmosphere during the journey. The average age on this tour is 38-45 but ages range from 20 to 60+ years.

The minimum age for children is 12 years old, provided they are accompanied by at least one adult. There is no age limit, but travellers aged 65 and over are required to provide a medical “fitness to travel” certificate, which can be obtained from your GP.

Language
As the participants on the above trip come from different countries, English will be spoken by the guide during the trip (with the exception of the departure dates, which are indicated with a * during these travels, German is mainly spoken).

The trip is guided by 2 certified guides for optimal knowledge, information and individual attention.

Visa
If you are in possession of a Dutch passport, you will need a valid passport for travel to Botswana and Zambia which is valid for at least 6 months upon arrival in the country.

For stays shorter than 90 days, you do not need a visa for Botswana and Zambia.

For Namibia, from 1 April 2025, you will need a visa and a passport that is valid for at least 6 months upon arrival in the country.

You can apply for the Namibian visa online on the Namibian government's website (information in English). https://eservices.mhaiss.gov.na/holidayvisa-services.

Ensure there are enough blank pages in the passport for the necessary stamps.

If you hold a nationality other than Dutch, please contact the Consulate of the country concerned.

AfrikaOnline does not provide visas. For more information, you can visit the website of the www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl. Should you not have a valid passport and/or travel documents during the trip, any resulting consequences will be at your own expense.

If you are travelling to Zambia or Namibia with children under 18, you may need to have a copy of the International Birth Certificate.

If you are travelling as a single parent or simply alone with your minor child, you must also be in possession of a consent form from the other parent, or be able to show a document stating.

Naturally, during the trip, an effort will be made to visit villages and make contact with the local inhabitants.

Transport
Transport during the trip is by a special overland safari truck with 10/12 seats or, approximately 5% from all departure points, a safari minibus (air-conditioned Mercedes Sprinter), whilst transfers in the Okavango are carried out in open 4×4 safari vehicles with a local guide.

Travel – Cancellation Insurance
Taking out travel insurance is compulsory.

It is recommended to take out cancellation insurance.

If the insurance policies are not taken out via AfrikaOnline, we kindly request you to provide the name of the insurer and the policy numbers for both insurances to AfrikaOnline by email as soon as possible and well before your departure.

Participation
From 12 years old, no maximum age. However, at least 1 adult must accompany every child under 18.

During the trip, walks will be made that require a certain level of stamina.

The walks are graded as easy to moderate and are always optional.

On all camping trips, participation is required in setting up the tent camp, preparing the meals and, of course, helping with the washing up.

Teamspirit is part of the fun of travelling in a group.

Overnight stays
Camping: 15 nights camping in National Parks or cities.

Campsites in Namibia are generally excellent and offer good facilities such as hot and cold showers, a restaurant, washing machines, a post office/telephone booths, and a souvenir shop.

Some campsites have a swimming pool. Sometimes a campsite can also be beautifully situated, but the disadvantage is that there are fewer facilities.

Camping equipment; Spacious and comfortable igloo tent measuring 2.2 x 2.2 x 1.8 metres which is easy to set up/take down. The tents have “built-in” mosquito nets.

Furthermore, there are mattresses approximately 5 cm thick and comfortable camping chairs with backrests.

Guesthouse 2 nights in a nice guesthouse (Dunedin Star or equivalent) in Swakopmund in a double room with bathroom.

1 overnight stay in a nice guesthouse (Terra Africa or equivalent in Windhoek) in a double room with

Bathroom and 1 night in a double chalet in Kasane.

Your cooperation will be required during the trip for setting up and taking down the tents and camp.

Meals:
During the trip, good and healthy meals are prepared using mostly local produce.

To give you an idea of what the meals will be like: breakfast will consist of cornflakes with milk, toast with jam, and a regular English breakfast with eggs and bacon, fruit juice, coffee, and tea.

Lunch will mostly consist of cheese, cold cuts, salads and bread (picnic style). Dinner will be the most elaborate with regular BBQs, stir-fries and the typically South African Potjiekos (an all-in-one pot dish, delicious!!!!) prepared over the campfire.

If there are special dietary requirements (due to vegetarian preference and/or allergies), please state them when booking the trip so that they can be taken into account in advance.

Coffee and tea will also be served during dinner.

Other beverages are excluded and must be purchased separately.

During this trip, 20 breakfasts, 17 lunches and 12 dinners are included in the tour price and will be prepared by the guides.

During the trip, cooperation is requested with setting and clearing tables and washing up.

Medical conditions:
Anyone in good health may participate in this trip.

Luggage
Travel bag (due to limited car space, it is best to pack luggage in a travel bag or backpack) with a maximum of 12 kg per person.

Also take a small rucksack or bag for personal items to have in the car.

A hard-shell suitcase cannot be taken. Please bring your own towel.

Reservations
The agent reserves the right to amend a programme if the agent deems it necessary due to certain conditions, force majeure or unforeseen circumstances.

Should the vehicle break down, the agent will not be responsible for alternative accommodation other than camping, and there will be no compensation for flights or similar.

Agent requests a compensation form to be signed prior to departure for the trip.
