In short

Four countries trip along the highlights of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana Okay Zimbabwe. During the trip, Table Mountain will be climbed, there will be a day excursion to the Cape Peninsula with Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope, canoeing on the Orange River, nature drives through the Namibian desert.

Visit to the red dunes of Sossusvlei, game driving in the Etosha National Park, a mokoro excursion in the Okavango Delta, bootcruise on the Chobe River and a visit to the world-famous Victoria Falls waterfalls.

In Zimbabwe there is a game drive in the Hwange National Park and a game drive plus a rhino tracking in the Matobo National Park.

Programme

Dag 1: Cape Town

The journey begins at 13:00 at the AHA Harbour Bridge hotel with an introduction to the guides and fellow adventurers. Afterwards, we will drive towards Table Mountain and hike to the summit under the guidance of the guides.

From the summit, there is a magnificent view over Cape Town and the Atlantic Ocean. (For those who do not wish to walk to the summit, there is the option to take the cable car to the top of the mountain at your own expense and take a walk there).

After visiting Table Mountain, we'll return to the hotel to freshen up. In the evening, a visit can be made to the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with the guide, and dinner can be had at one of the many restaurants.

Day 2: Cape Town

Today after breakfast, we depart for a day trip around the Cape Peninsula. We will visit the fishing village of Hout Bay and, of course, visit the Cape of Good Hope located in the Cape of Good Hope National Park.

At the end of the day, return to the hotel. In the evening, a visit can be made to the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with the guide and dinner can be taken in one of the many restaurants.

Day 3: Cape Town – West Coast

After breakfast, depart from Cape Town and drive north. A stop will be made at Bloubergstrand for a photo opportunity of the unique Table Mountain.

Then, passing through the Swartland wine region and along the West Coast, you reach Namaqualand. In spring (August and early September), the famous wild flower fields can be seen here. Arrival in the village of Springbok near the border with Namibia for overnight stay.

Day 4: West Coast – Orange River

Depart from Springbok after breakfast and drive to the Namibian border.

After the border formalities, we'll drive a little further to our destination on the Orange River.

The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Day 5: Orange River

After breakfast, there will be some time to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

The day after lunch, getting ready for a guided canoe excursion on the Orange River.

The Orange River forms the natural border with South Africa, creating a green ribbon in the Namibian desert with the Richtersveld National Park mountains in the background.

At the end of the afternoon, back to the Felix Unite Camp to relax, swim in the river and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Day 6: Orange River – Fish River Canyon – Duwisib (Namib Desert)

Depart from the Felix Unite camp and drive to the Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon.

The Fish River Canyon has been formed over hundreds of millions of years and is approximately 160 km long.

After visiting the canyon, continue driving through the beautiful Namibian landscape. Arrive at the Kronenhof Lodge, located on a 21,000-hectare nature reserve and farm.

The afternoon is free to enjoy the stunning surroundings.

Day 7: Duwisib (Namib Desert)

Full day in the Nature Reserve with a desert walk in the morning with a guide who explains the flora and fauna of the desert.

During the walk, we will look for animals, tracks of mammals and reptiles, and learn about the adaptations of animals and plants for surviving in the desert.

After the walk, we returned to the lodge to relax, bird watch, enjoy the scenery, swim in the pool and have lunch. After lunch, we embarked on a game drive in open 4x4 safari vehicles through the nature reserve, looking for local animals such as the gemsbok and the bat-eared fox.

Towards sunset, we stop at a lovely spot for a traditional sundowner (enjoying a drink during sunset) and then drive back to the lodge in the dark, keeping an eye out for animals that only appear at night, such as porcupine, aardvark, and brown hyena.

Day 8: Namib Desert – Sossusvlei

Early departure from the Kronenhof Lodge and drive to Sesriem Canyon and the red dunes of Sossusvlei. Sesriem Canyon will be explored on foot, followed by a transfer in a 4x4 vehicle to the heart of the dune area and the famous Sossusvlei dune, Dune 45.

Time to climb the dunes and enjoy the stunning view. At the end of the day, drive to the Bushmans Desert Camp.

Day 9: Sossusvlei – Swakopmund

Depart from Bush Desert Camp and drive through the Namib Naukluft Park towards the coast. En route, there will be a stop at Kuiseb Canyon and you will very likely see the Welwitschia Mirabilis plant, a plant millions of years old, a living fossil, which occurs only in the coastal region of Namibia and Angola and is called “tweeblaarkanniedood” in Afrikaans.

The plant can live for 500 to 600 years, and there are even specimens said to be as old as 2000 years. Afterwards, a visit to Walvis Bay Lagoon where flamingos can usually be seen. From here, drive on to the town of Swakopmund, with the rest of the afternoon free to explore the town on foot or to take part in one of the many activities on offer.

Day 10: Swakopmund

Full day in and around Swakopmund, with time to relax or to do excursions or activities.

Day 11: Swakopmund – Brandberg

Depart from Swakopmund after breakfast and drive via the Skeleton Coast to Cape Cross, where a visit will be made to the Cape Cross seal colony. Afterwards, depart from the coast and head inland through Namibia, driving to the village of Uis and the famous Brandberg.

Here, the night is spent at the foot of the mountain in the Mount Brandberg Nature Reserve, where, with a bit of luck, the rare desert elephant can be spotted. Here at Brandberg, unique rock paintings from the Bushman period can also be seen.

Day 12: Brandberg - Etosha National Park

Depart from Brandberg and drive towards the world-famous Etosha National Park.

The next two nights will be spent in this magnificent wildlife park with game drives and observing the animals that come to drink at the many waterholes.

Day 13: Etosha National Park

Full-day game drive in Etosha National Park.

Day 14: Etosha National Park – Divundu (Caprivi)

This morning, depart from Etosha National Park and drive in a north-easterly direction towards the Caprivi Strip. Along the way, you'll see typical landscapes and villages offering glimpses into daily life here.

Arrival at Ngepi Camp on the banks of the Okavango River. The landscape here is totally different from what we've seen en route, green, lush with tall trees and large crocodiles in the fast-flowing river.

Upon arrival, there's time to freshen up before dinner and enjoy the surroundings.

Day 15: Divundu – Okavango Delta

After breakfast, depart from Divundu and drive towards the world-famous Okavango Delta.

The coming days will be spent in the Okavango Delta in search of the Lechwe antelope, the Bee-eater and the African Fish Eagle.

Tours are taken in a mokoro (dugout canoe) and game walks are undertaken under the guidance of an experienced ranger.

Day 16: Okavango Delta

Day 17: Okavango Delta – Maun

Depart from the Okavango Delta and arrive in the town of Maun in the afternoon.

There's an option to take a walk through the village, and get some shopping done if needed.

Afterwards, depart from Maun and drive to the lodge.

Rest of the afternoon is free to relax by the pool. Tonight's lodge is located on the banks of the Boteti River.

Day 18: Maun – Makgadikgadi Pans

This morning offered a calm start to the day after all those early mornings during the safari. We enjoyed the peace, the river, and the animals that came there to drink, or we could relax by the pool.

A walk can also be taken to the village of Chenoga Village with a member of the lodge's staff. An early lunch and after lunch, departure towards the Makgadikgadi salt pans. Arrival at the lodge and, with a bit of luck, sunset with a view of the waterhole and the elephants that come to drink there.

Day 19: Makgadikgadi Pans – Chobe National Park – Victoria Falls

Depart after breakfast and drive towards Kasane and Chobe National Park.

In the afternoon, a boat cruise on the Chobe River in search of wildlife. After the boat cruise, drive to the border with Zimbabwe and cross the border. Drive to Victoria Falls.

Day 20: Victoria Falls

Full day in Victoria Falls to explore the town and, of course, visit the famous Victoria Falls.

Today is at your leisure to visit the waterfalls at your own pace and to do other activities such as bungee jumping, white water rafting, helicopter flights and much more.

Day 21: Victoria Falls – Hwange National Park

After breakfast, depart from Victoria Falls and drive to Hwange National Park,

Zimbabwe's most famous wildlife park, home to large herds of elephants and buffalo.

In this park, you'll find over 100 species of mammals, including lions, leopards, and wild dogs, as well as more than 400 different bird species. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive in Hwange National Park in open safari vehicles with local guides.

Day 22: Hwange – Bulawayo – Matobo National Park

Depart from Hwange after breakfast and drive to the town of Bulawayo, the second largest city in Zimbabwe.

Continue from Bulawayo to the nearby Matobo National Park.

In the afternoon, a game drive in Matobo National Park in open 4x4 safari vehicles, followed by a rhino tracking experience on foot.

Day 23: Matobo National Park – Limpopo

Depart from Matobo National Park and drive to the Plumtree border post with Botswana.

After the border crossing, drive south past Francistown towards the Stevensford Private Game Reserve, approx. 20 km from the Martin's Drift border post with South Africa.

In the afternoon a final walk through the game reserve and in the evening a dinner around the campfire.

Our comfort safaris are run in small groups to offer the best and most flexible programme possible. Small groups mean more time for the traveller, fewer waiting times, and a cosy, personal atmosphere during the trip.

The average age on this tour is 38-45 but ages range from 18 to 55.

The minimum age for children is 12 years, provided they are accompanied by at least one adult. For travellers over 65, a medical “fitness to travel” certificate may be requested, which can be obtained from your GP.

Language
Because the participants on the above trip come from different countries, English will be spoken by the guides during the trip.

The trip is accompanied by two certified guides for optimal knowledge, information, and individual attention.

Visa
If you are in possession of a Dutch passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your return from the trip, no visa is required for South Africa.

A visa is required for Namibia and Zimbabwe, which is best arranged before departing from the Netherlands.

For Namibia, a visa has been required since 01-04-2025, via this link https://eservices.mhaiss.gov.na/holidayvisa-services) will take you to the correct website, where you can fill in all the details and make your payment. A visa is also required for Zimbabwe; this can be “purchased’ at the border for approximately US$ 30 per person. The visa can also be applied for online via www.evisa.gov.zw.

Furthermore, there must be enough consecutive blank pages in the passport (allow for 2 pages per country) for the required stamps. If you hold a nationality other than Dutch, please check with the consulate of the relevant countries.

Participation
From 12 years old, no maximum age. However, at least 1 adult must travel for every child under 18. During the trip, there will be walks that require a certain level of stamina.

The walks are graded as easy to moderate and are always optional.

On all overland journeys, participation in meal preparation, helping with the washing up, and keeping the truck clean is requested.

Overnight stays
During this trip, you will stay 17 nights in hotels or lodges, 4 nights in a permanent safari tent with beds and an en-suite bathroom, and 2 nights in a tented camp.

Meals:
During the trip, good and healthy meals will be prepared using mostly local produce. Meals will often be prepared by the lodge/accommodation where you are staying.

Lunch is usually on the go at a local restaurant or in the form of a picnic brought from the lodge or prepared by the guide.

During this trip, 23 breakfasts, 18 lunches and 17 dinners are included in the tour price.

Medical conditions:
Anyone in good health may participate in this trip.

Luggage
Travel bag (due to space in the car, it is best to bring luggage in a travel bag or backpack) with a maximum of 20 kg pp.

Also useful, a small rucksack for personal items such as a water bottle, headlamp or torch, sun cream, etc. A (hard-shell) suitcase cannot be taken.
