Programme

Day 1: Johannesburg - Serowe

Depart from the Signature Lux Sandton Hotel in Johannesburg (approx. 06.30) and drive north towards the Martins Drift border post with Botswana.

After clearing customs, we drive across the vast Kalahari plains to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary.

Upon arrival, the rest of the afternoon is at your leisure to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Day 2: Serowe - Maun

Up early for a game drive in open safari vehicles through the Khama Rhino Sanctuary in search of the rare rhinos. After the game drive, return to the camp for brunch.

After brunch, we'll pick up camp and depart from the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, driving towards the town of Maun, the gateway to the world-famous Okavango Delta.

Arrival in Maun and the rest of the afternoon free for you to spend around the Maun Camp, which is situated on the wide Boteti River. The location of Maun Camp offers excellent opportunities for bird watching.

Fall asleep to the sounds of the hippos in the river.

Day 3 - 4: Okavango Delta

The next few days will be spent in the Delta searching for the lechwe antelope, the bee-eater and the African fish eagle. We’ll be taking trips in a mokoro (a hollowed-out canoe) and going on game walks accompanied by an experienced guide.

Days in the Okavango Delta with mokoro trips, guided game walks on uninhabited islands in the Okavango Delta, and picnics in the wilderness. Guidance is provided by local guides, and through informal interaction, we learn about customs and traditions.

Between activities, there’s time to relax around the camp and enjoy the stunning views over the Okavango Delta from the wooden veranda, with a cold drink in hand, or take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool.

One evening, we’re going on a sunset boat cruise.

Day 5: Okavango Delta - Maun

Departure from the Okavango Delta and arrival in the town of Maun in the course of the afternoon. You can take a stroll through the village and do some shopping if necessary.

Afterwards, depart from Maun and drive to the lodge.

The rest of the afternoon is free to spend as you wish, relaxing by the pool.

Tonight's lodge is situated on the banks of the Boteti River.

Day 6: Okavango Delta - Khwai area (Moremi or Savuti game reserves)

After a hearty breakfast, we set off from Maun in open-top 4×4 Land Rovers, accompanied by our Motswana guides, for one of the highlights of this safari: a visit to the Khwai area and the Moremi or Savuti Game Reserve (depending on the season).

The day is spent on game drives through the park, and at the end of the day we arrive at the mobile safari camp (private) in the heart of the bush.

The environment is unspoilt and there are no permanent facilities here; everything at the camp is brought in and taken away again when we leave.

The route taken is flexible and dependent on the animals' movements and the season.

Days 7–8–9: Khwai area (Moremi or Savuti Game Reserves)

The days are spent on game drives through the Moremi Game Reserve and/or the Savuti Game Reserve. This depends on where the wildlife is at the time and the seasons.

At the end of each day, arrive at the mobile safari camp (private) in the middle of the bush.

The environment is unspoilt and there are no permanent facilities here; everything at the camp is brought in and taken away again when we leave.

The route taken is flexible and dependent on the animals' movements and the season.

Day 10: Khwai area - Maun

One last game drive through the park back to Maun and the Maun Camp.

Lunch is served here and luggage is collected.

After lunch, depart for the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. After visiting the salt pans, drive to the camp.

Arriving at the camp and time to relax and enjoy the wilderness.

Day 11: Makgadikgadi Pans – Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Depart after breakfast and drive towards Kasane and Chobe National Park.

In the afternoon, a boat cruise on the Chobe River in search of wildlife.

After the boat cruise, drive to the border with Zimbabwe and cross the border. Drive to Victoria Falls and the A Zambezi River Lodge.

Day 12: Victoria Falls

Full day in Victoria Falls to explore the town and, of course, visit the famous Victoria Falls.

Today is at your leisure to visit the waterfalls at your own pace and to do other activities such as bungee jumping, white water rafting, helicopter flights and much more.

Day 13: Victoria Falls – Hwange National Park

After breakfast a short drive to the village of Hwange and Camp Silwane, situated next to Zimbabwe’s largest game park.

Lunch at Silwane Camp, followed by an afternoon game drive in open safari vehicles in Hwange National Park.

Hwange National Park is known for its large herds of elephants and buffalo, and is also home to over 100 mammal species and 400 bird species.

Lions, leopards and wild dogs are also regularly spotted.

Day 14: Hwange – Matobo Hills National Park

After breakfast, depart from Hwange and drive south to Matobo Hills National Park.

Upon arrival, a game drive through the park in open safari vehicles and a bush walk through the park in search of rhinos with rangers.

Tonight's campsite is located on a large granite hill and offers a magnificent view over Matobo National Park.

Day 15: Matobo Hills National Park – Martin’s Drift

After breakfast, depart from Matobo Hills National Park and drive towards the Martin's Drift/Groblersbrug border crossing.

Just before the South African border, one night at the campsite of the Stevensford Game Reserve.

Upon arrival and setting up camp, a walk along the Limpopo River for one last look at the African bush and its animals.

Tonight a lovely dinner around the campfire.

Day 16: Martin's Drift - Johannesburg

After breakfast, depart from Stevensford Game Reserve and drive via the Groblersbrug border post to Johannesburg, where the trip concludes at the Protea Marriott Balalaika Hotel Sandton in Johannesburg around 5:00 PM (depending on border crossing and travel time).

This price is based on two travellers per room.

For solo travellers; Accommodation during the safari will be shared with someone of the same gender (at no extra cost) or there is a supplement of €324 per person (2026) for a single tent/room during the trip.

Arrival and/or departure transfer optional to book at €45 per person (between 8 PM and 6 AM the transfer price is €55 per person).

Optional extras:

The stated travel sum excludes international flights. However, we can offer you flights from all airlines connected to IATA BSP.

On request, we can provide you with a quote from different airlines. Flight price indication for this trip: KLM from €850,- per person including airport tax for the Amsterdam – Johannesburg – Amsterdam route.

Extension of the journey
If you prefer a longer or shorter stay in Africa, that is possible.

A tailor-made trip to suit your personal wishes is also possible, of course. If you let us know your requirements, we will be happy to create an exciting quote for you.

Not many holiday days?
That can happen. This trip can also be made from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls.

On day 13, your trip concludes in Victoria Falls. The cost for the 13-day safari is €2,979 (2026) per person, based on two people sharing a room.

The trip can also be made from Maun to Victoria Falls, with the journey starting on day 2 in Maun and ending on day 13 in Victoria Falls. The cost for the 12-day safari is €2937 per person, based on two people sharing a room.

As a last option, the trip can be made from Maun to Maun, a 9-day journey.

The trip then begins in Maun on day 2 and ends in Maun on day 10. Costs for this option €2745 (2026) per person.

Number of participants:
Our group camping safaris are run in small groups to offer the best and most flexible itinerary possible.

Small groups mean more time for the traveller, shorter waiting times and a cosy, personal atmosphere during the trip.

The average age on this tour is 38-45 but ages range from 18 to 55.

The minimum age for children is 12 years. For travellers over 55, it can be assessed on a case-by-case basis whether the requested trip is suitable, and a medical “fitness to travel” certificate may be requested, which can be obtained from your GP.

Guaranteed departure with 4 booked participants / maximum 16 participants.

Language
Since the participants on the above trip come from different countries, English will be spoken by the guide during the trip.

The trip is accompanied by two certified guides for optimal knowledge, information, and individual attention.

Visa
If you hold a Dutch passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your return from the trip, no visa is required for South Africa and Botswana. A visa is required for Zimbabwe.

This can be purchased at the border for approximately US$ 30 per person (subject to change). For Zimbabwe, the visa can also be applied for online via www.evisa.gov.zw/home but only after the car's registration number is known at the start of the journey.

Furthermore, there must be enough blank pages next to each other in the passport for the required stamps (allow for at least 2 to 3 blank pages per country to be visited).

If you hold a nationality other than Dutch or Belgian, please check with the Consulate of the relevant countries. AfrikaOnline does not arrange visas.

Transport
Transport during the trip is by special Overland safari truck with adjustable seats and ample legroom.

During the Moremi, Khwai and Savuti camping safari, transport will be in 4x4 Land Rovers, and also for the game drives in Hwange National Park and Matobo Hills National Park, transport will be in open 4x4 safari vehicles.

Comfortable travel and excellent for game drives. Large windows so everyone has a good view.

Luggage lockers are available for personal items.

Travel – Cancellation Insurance
Taking out travel insurance is compulsory, and cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.

If the insurance is not arranged through AfrikaOnline, we kindly request that you inform AfrikaOnline in writing, well in advance of your departure, of the name of the insurer and the policy numbers.

Participation
From 12 years old, no maximum age. However, at least 1 adult must accompany every child under 18.

During the trip, walks will be undertaken that require a certain level of stamina. The walks are rated as easy to moderate and are optional at all times.

Team spirit is part of the enjoyment of travelling in a group, and during the trip, assistance is requested with preparing meals, cleaning the truck, and setting up camp.

Overnight stays
All overnight stays on this trip will be in twin-occupancy dome tents, permanent safari tents, or twin-occupancy chalets.

During this trip, you will spend 2 nights in a hotel, 2 nights in a permanent safari tent with beds, and 6 nights wild camping and 5 nights on a fixed campsite.

Meals:
During the trip, good and healthy meals will be prepared from mostly local produce. The guides will generally prepare the meals.

Lunch is usually on the go in a local restaurant or in the form of a picnic brought from the campsite or prepared by the guide.

During this trip, 15 breakfasts, 13 lunches and 13 dinners are included in the tour price.

During the trip, cooperation is requested in setting up and taking down the camp, and in clearing and washing up the tables after meals.

Medical conditions:
Anyone in good health may participate in this trip.

Luggage
Due to limited space in the car, only a soft travel bag or a frameless rucksack weighing a maximum of 20 kg per person is permitted. Hard-shell suitcases cannot be brought along.

For this trip, you are asked to bring an additional small backpack or bag for clothing and personal items during the 4 days in the Khwai area.

The remaining luggage will be left at Maun Camp.
