Good2Go The tour operator is committed to sustainable and responsible travel. This is reflected in their “low impact” style of travel where all that is taken is photographs and all that is left behind are footprints.
The travel company, 100%, is South African-owned and aims to make a real difference to the lives of the people in the countries it visits.
This trip supports the following causes: The Gwabi River Lodge is owner-managed and 100% of the staff are Zambian. The lodge produces and sells eco-charcoal at an affordable price in the Lower Zambezi Valley, which helps to curb illegal logging by the local population.
They also help a local school by donating vegetable seeds, installing water pumps and advising the local community on growing vegetables and fruit.
Vegetables and fruit are once again being purchased from the local community for use at the lodge. Pine Tree Inn Nyanga is owner-run and the staff are primarily from the immediate vicinity of the lodge, thereby supporting the local community.
Furthermore, the lodge is undertaking the renovation of the maternity ward at a local clinic.
The lodge grows its own vegetables and buys from local farmers, advising on increasing production through crop rotation and disease control.
