Botswana is known as the best safari destination in Southern Africa with the greatest diversity and numbers of animals, “wildlife”.
Game drives made in 4x4 open safari vehicles, mokoro trips and Bushwalks in the Okavango Delta and “sundowner” Boat cruise on the Chobe River where elephants come to drink.

Programme
Day 1: Johannesburg – Serowe
Depart from the Road Lodge Rivonia in Johannesburg in the early morning (approx. 06:30) and drive north towards the Botswana border.
Arrival at the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, a wildlife reserve of approximately 430 hectares bordering the Kalahari sands.
This area contains several natural water springs and is ideally suited as a habitat for the white rhino, zebra, and wildebeest.
In the afternoon, a first game drive through the open grasslands of Malema and the Serwe Pans.
Overnight stay at Khama Rhino Sanctuary. (chalet)

Day 2: Maun
Depart from the Khama Rhino Sanctuary and drive through the Central Kalahari to the town of Maun.
Maun is the departure point for most Okavango safaris and is a small, busy town situated on the Thamalakane River.
In the afternoon, you can do some shopping and buy souvenirs, and relax by the pool.

Day 3: Maun – Okavango Delta
Depart from Maun to the Okavango Delta under the guidance of local guides in the typical Mokoro's (hollowed-out tree trunk boats).
En route to the permanent tented camp, there will be wildlife spotting, walks, and swimming in the clear waters of the Delta.
Camping will take place on the banks of the Delta and at a beautiful spot in the heart of the Delta. The local guides will introduce you to their culture and way of life.

Day 4: Okavango Delta

Day 5: Okavango Delta - Khwai Private Reserve area (Moremi Game Reserve)
Depart from the Delta and drive via Maun in a northerly direction towards Moremi National Park.
This area is rich in wildlife and still quite untouched by tourism.
During your stay in Moremi, game drives are mainly undertaken in search of the many animals found here, such as wild dogs, elephants, hippos, buffalo, lions, and other smaller game like gazelles.
There is also an underground hideout at the camp from which you can observe the animals from a short distance.
Overnight stay in the permanent tented camp in the Khwai area.

Day 6 - 7: Moremi National Park (Kwai Private Reserve area)
Days in Moremi National Park. This magnificent reserve is especially known for the large number of predators found here.
Lions and hyenas in particular are present in large numbers. The days are filled with game drives in search of the animals of Moremi.
Overnight stay in the permanent tented camp in the Khwai area.

Day 10: Nata - Chobe National Park
Depart from Nata and drive to Chobe National Park. Chobe National Park is known for the large herds of elephants that are found here.
The Chobe River provides a drinking spot for animals all year round, and this makes the number of animals found in Chobe National Park very unique.

Day 11: Chobe National Park
Visit to Chobe National Park. In the morning a game drive through the park (approx. 3 hours) and in the afternoon a “sundowner” cruise on the Chobe River.

Day 13: Victoria Falls

*For this safari trip, a “local payment” is requested. The local payment (in cash) will be collected by the tour leader at the start of each trip and is usually in the local currency or US dollars. This price is based on two travellers. For solo travellers; accommodation on safari will be shared (at no extra cost) or a supplement of €850 p.p. (2026) and (2027) per person for a single tent/room for the entire trip.

Our comfort safaris are run in small groups to offer the most flexible and best possible itinerary.
Small groups mean more time for the traveller, shorter waiting times and a cosy, personal atmosphere during the trip.
The average age on this tour is 38-45, but ages range from 20 to 60+ years.
The minimum age for children is 12 years old, provided they are accompanied by at least one adult. There is no age limit, but travellers aged 65 and over are required to provide a medical “fitness to travel” certificate, which can be obtained from your GP.

Language
Since the participants on the above trip come from different countries, English will be spoken by the guide during the trip.
On dates marked with an *, a German-speaking guide will accompany the tour, and therefore most travellers will be German-speaking.
Local payment:
A “local payment” in US$ is required for this safari tour. The tour leader will collect the local payment in cash at the start of each tour.
Please note, dollar bills must not date from before 2013, must look clean and tidy, with no tears or damage, otherwise they will not be accepted on the spot.
With the local payment, various entrance fees for national parks and other excursion fees will be paid, and in this way, we will support the local population.

Visa
If you are in possession of a Dutch passport which is valid for at least 6 months after returning from your trip, no visa is required for South Africa & Botswana.
A visa is required for Zimbabwe; you can buy one at the border for US$ 30 per person, but you can also apply for one online before departure via www.evisa.gov.zw/.
Then there also have to be enough empty pages next to each other in the passport for the necessary stamps (allow at least 2 empty pages per country).
If you hold a nationality other than Dutch, please check with the Consulate of the relevant country.

Transport
Transport during the trip is by a special safari truck with 10/12 seats. On approximately 10% of the trips, transport is by a Mercedes Sprinter minibus.
Comfortable travel and excellent for game drives. Large sliding windows so everyone has a good view. Roof rack and/or trailer for luggage and camping gear.
For game drives in Moremi and Chobe, and transfers to the Okavango Delta, open 4x4 safari vehicles are used.
Responsible travel:
As this trip involves camping in the open bush, it is important to know that our motto, “we leave nothing behind but our footprints,” is taken very seriously. Furthermore, with these trips, we support the local population by hiring them as guides.
With this trip, we are supporting the Khama Rhino Sanctuary project, the Okavango Polers community, and local Botswana park guides. In recent years, tourism in Botswana has taken off.
This means, among other things, that more mokoros are needed to transport tourists in the Delta. This means that more trees need to be felled each year to meet demand. Mokoros made from hollowed-out tree trunks last for approximately 4-5 years.
The tour operator you are travelling with has agreed with the polers they work with that, when a new mokoro needs to be purchased, it will no longer be made from tree trunks but from fibreglass, and that 50% of the costs will be sponsored by the tour operator.
As a traveller on this journey, you are helping to conserve nature in Botswana.

Participation
From 12 years old, no maximum age. However, at least 1 adult must accompany every child under 18.
During the trip, walks will be made that require a certain level of stamina.
The walks are graded as easy to moderate and are always optional.
On all camping trips, participation is required in setting up the tent camp, preparing the meals and, of course, helping with the washing up.
Teamspirit is part of the fun of travelling in a group.
Overnight stays
Permanent Tented Camp 3 nights in the private tented bushcamp in safari tents with beds and en-suite bathroom, 1 night in the tented safari camp of Nata Lodge with beds and en-suite bathroom and 2 nights in Thebe River Safaris Camp in permanent safari tents with en-suite bathroom.
Chalets 1 night at Khama Rhino Sanctuary in basic chalets with shared bathrooms (2x twin rooms sharing 1 bathroom), 2 nights at Island Safari Lodge, double room with bathroom, 2 nights Shearwater Explorers Village in a double room with bathroom.
Wilderness Camps: 2 nights (in the Okavango Delta) will be spent “wild” camping. This means you will be able to stay in spectacular locations without any facilities.
Everything that is needed will be taken. The camping equipment; Spacious and comfortable mini-meru tents, two camp beds, bedding and an en-suite chemical toilet. The tents have “built-in” mosquito nets. Shared “bucket shower" with hot water and comfortable camping chairs with backrests.
Meals:
During the trip, good and healthy meals are prepared by the guide (with a little help from the travellers), using mostly local produce.
To give you an idea of what the meals will be like: breakfast will consist of cornflakes with milk, toast with jam, and a regular English breakfast with eggs and bacon, fruit juice, coffee, and tea.
Lunch will mostly consist of cheese, cold cuts, salads and bread (rolls) (picnic style). Dinner will be the most extensive, with regular BBQ, stir-fries and the typical South African Potjiekos (all-in-one pot dish, delicious!!!!) prepared over the campfire.
If there are special dietary requirements (due to vegetarian preference and/or allergies), please state them when booking the trip so that they can be taken into account in advance.
Coffee and tea will also be served during dinner. Other drinks are not included and must be purchased separately.
During this trip, 13 breakfasts, 11 lunches and 6 dinners are included in the tour price. Of these, 9 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 3 dinners will be provided by the lodge where you will be staying. The remaining meals will be provided by the guides in collaboration with the group and will be eaten around the campfire.

Anyone in good health may participate in this trip.
Luggage
Travel bag (due to limited space in the car, we advise bringing luggage in a travel bag or backpack) with a maximum of 12 kg per person. In addition, a small separate backpack or a handy bag for personal items. A hard-shell suitcase will not fit in the truck!
Reservations
The agent reserves the right to amend a programme if the agent deems it necessary due to certain conditions, force majeure or unforeseen circumstances.
Should the vehicle break down, the agent will not be responsible for alternative accommodation other than camping, and there will be no compensation for flights or similar.
The agent asks for a compensation form to be signed upon arrival and before departure of the trip.
