The route goes via the Kenyan Great Rift Valley to famous free parking as it Lake Nakuru National Park and it Masai Mara National Reserve.
In Tanzania a visit is made to the world-famous Serengeti National Park visited, the Tarangire National Park, and Lake Manyara National Park Park.

Programme
Day 1: Jomo Kenyatta International Airport – Nairobi
Arrival at Nairobi's JKIA Airport and after customs formalities, you will be welcomed to Kenya by your guide, followed by a transfer to the Karen Residence hotel (or equivalent).
On the way, a brief discussion with the guide about the arrangements for the safari and receipt of an information pack.
The rest of the day/evening is free for you to relax after your flight.

Day 2: Nairobi – Lake Nakuru
After breakfast, a visit to Nairobi National Park for a game drive and a visit to Daphne Sheldrick's elephant orphanage where orphaned elephants are looked after and cared for.
Afterwards, a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum, a chance to see Karen Blixen's house with your own eyes and go back to the time of the film “Out of Africa”.
Lunch at Matteo's restaurant in the village of Karen. After lunch, depart from Nairobi and drive to Lake Nakuru.
Lake Nakuru is one of the many lakes found in the rich Great Rift Valley, a habitat abundant with wild and bird life, boasting over 50 different mammal species including the lion, leopard, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, rhinoceros, various antelope species, and several primates.
Arrival at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge and after checking in, time to enjoy the surroundings, a refreshing dip in the pool and the magnificent views over Lake Nakuru and the surrounding Lake Nakuru National Park.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, depart from the lodge and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park for a full day of game driving. The park is rich in wildlife and is particularly known for the rhinos (black and white) found here.
A game drive is being carried out through Lake Nakuru National Park in search of the animals found here, such as lions, buffaloes, antelopes, zebras, and a spectacular number of birds.
The morning is the best time of day to see most animals. In the cool of the morning, the animals are active and looking for food. The picnic lunch is enjoyed in a beautiful spot under the acacia trees.
After the game drive, we'll return to the lodge for a wonderfully refreshing sundowner drink as evening falls. A delicious dinner will be served in the evening.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, depart from Lake Nakuru and the Great Rift Valley and drive to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve, the highlight of this trip. After lunch at Zebra Plains Mara Camp, there will be time to relax at the camp and enjoy the surroundings.
In the afternoon, a first game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve. Search for the Big Five and, if you travel in July/August, the migration of wildebeest and zebra.

Day 5 - 6: Masai Mara National Reserve
A wake-up call in the early morning and off we go for today's morning game drive. In the coolness of the morning, the animals are most active, so there's the greatest chance of seeing plenty of wildlife.
When it gets too warm and the animals start seeking out a spot in the shade, head back to camp for a delicious breakfast. After breakfast, relax at camp, perhaps taking a refreshing dip in the pool.
Optional (and at an additional cost), a bushwalk can be arranged with local Moran (Maasai warriors), a visit to a traditional Maasai village can be made, or a hot air balloon safari can be undertaken over the Maasai Mara.
Lunch in the camp followed by an afternoon game drive through the Masai Mara, with a chance to see nocturnal animals such as porcupines, bushbabies, aardvarks, hyenas, genets, and leopards.
After the game drive, we return to camp for drinks by the campfire and a delicious dinner.

Day 7: Masai Mara National Reserve – Nairobi - Arusha
Up early to see the sunrise over the Mara and have a lovely breakfast. Afterwards, pack up and drive back to Nairobi via the Great Rift Valley. A stop will be made en route to take a photo of the valley and have a picnic lunch at a nice spot along the way.
From the airport (Wilson or JKIA) a regional flight to Arusha Kilimanjaro airport. Upon arrival at Arusha airport, you will be welcomed to Tanzania by a representative of the safari company and transferred to the Mount Meru Game Lodge.

Day 8: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
This morning you'll wake up with a view of the magnificent Mount Meru. After breakfast, there will be a brief discussion with your guide about the arrangements for the safari.
Depart for Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch en route. This national park is named after the Tarangire River and famous for its large elephant herds, with some herds numbering as many as 500 elephants.
During the dry season, the park offers a refuge for many animal species that come to drink at the river.
Verder staat het park bekend om de vele Baobab bomen en de grote diversiteit aan vogels. Na aankomst game drive in het Tarangire Nationaal Park. Na de game drive rijden naar het Honeyguide Tarangire Camp voor diner en overnachting.

Dag 9: Tarangire Nationaal Park – Serengeti Nationaal Park
Vanmorgen ontbijt in het camp met de geluiden van de dieren op de achtergrond. Daarna vertrek uit het Honeyguide Tarangire Camp en rijden naar het wereldberoemde Serengeti Nationaal Park.
Onderweg naar het kamp een picknick lunch en een eerste game drive in het Serengeti Nationaal Park.
Het Serengeti Nationaal Park is het oudst nationale park van Tanzania en is het meest populaire park vanwege de jaarlijkse migratie van o.a. wildebeesten. Serengeti betekend “eindeloze vlakten” in de Masai taal.
Aan het einde van de middag aankomst in het Kati Kati Serengeti Camp.

Dag 10: Serengeti Nationaal Park
Volle dag in de Serengeti met een vroege ochtend en namiddag game drive (beide van ca. 3-4 uur) met ontbijt en lunch in het camp. De ochtend is een perfecte tijd om dieren te zien, het is nog niet te warm en de dieren zijn op zoek naar voedsel in de koelte voordat de middagzon het te warm maakt en ze de schaduw zoeken van de bomen en struiken.
Na de ochtend game drive ontbijt bij de lodge en in de middag tijd om te relaxen. In de namiddag een tweede game drive in het Serengeti park met kans om nachtdieren te zien als de luipaard en de cheeta. S’ avonds een diner rondom het kampvuur.

Dag 11: Serengeti Nationaal Park - Ngorongoro Conservation area
Vertrek uit het Serengeti Nationaal Park en het Kati Kati camp na het ontbijt en rijden richting de Ngorongoro Conservation area. Onderweg naar de Olduvai Gorge een picknicklunch op een mooi plekje.
Aankomst bij de Olduvai Gorge, een belangrijke, prehistorische plek waar de eerste overblijfselen zijn gevonden van de vroege mens. Hier word een rondleiding gemaakt met een gids die uitleg geeft over het hoe en wat van deze plek.
Daarna rijden naar de lodge via de kraterrand waar met een beetje goed weer de Ngorongoro krater is te zien. Aankomst bij de lodge aan het einde van de middag en rest van de namiddag om te relaxen.

Dag 12: Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area
Vanmorgen vroeg vertrek uit de lodge en een volle dag bezoek aan de Ngorongoro Krater inclusief een picknick lunch. De Ngorongoro Krater wordt vaak het 8ste wereld wonder genoemd, bij aankomst zult u met eigen ogen zien waarom.
Vandaag een grote kans om de beroemde BIG Five te zien, de olifant, het luipaard, de buffel, de leeuw en de neushoorn. Bij terugkomst in de lodge de heerlijke koelte van het zwembad en de zonsondergang.

Dag 13: Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area – Lake Manyara Nationaal Park - Arusha
Na het ontbijt vertrek uit de Acacia Lodge en rijden richting het Lake Manyara National Park waar nog een laatste game drive wordt gemaakt.
Lake Manyara is één van Tanzania’s kleine parken maar, zoals Ernest Hemmingway al zei, het is de mooiste plek die ik ooit gezien heb met een groot alkaline meer, een afwisselend landschap en een divers dierenleven.
Tijdens de game drive op zoek naar de dieren die hier voorkomen zoals de beroemde boom klimmende leeuw, vele flamingo’s, grote kuddes buffels en zebra’s. Na de game drive rijden naar Arusha en aankomst tegen lunchtijd (lunch op eigen kosten in Arusha).
Afhankelijk van uw geboekte vlucht een transfer naar de Kilimanjaro luchthaven.

Language
Omdat de deelnemers aan bovenstaande reis uit verschillende landen komen (internationaal gezelschap) wordt er tijdens de reis Engels gesproken door de gids. Op verzoek kunnen we anderstalige gidsen aanvragen.

Visa
Voor reizen naar Kenia dient u in het bezit te zijn van een geldig Nederlands paspoort wat nog tenminste 6 maanden geldig is bij vertrek uit Kenia en een inreisvisum. Het E-visum voor Kenia kan online worden aangevraagd via deze link; etakenya.go.ke
Een visum met geldigheid van 90 dagen kost US$ 30- 35,-,- per persoon (onder voorbehoud van wijziging). Vraag het eTA minimaal 7 dagen voor vertrek aan via de officiële overheidssite. Voor meer informatie kunt u terecht bij de Ambassade van Kenia in Den Haag .
Voor reizen naar Tanzania dient u in het bezit te zijn van een geldig Nederlands paspoort welke nog minimaal 6 maanden geldig zijn na afgifte van het visum en op het moment van aankomst in het land.
U kunt dit visum voor vertrek uit Nederland aanvragen via de website www.visa.immigration.go.tz . Let op, er dienen nog voldoende lege pagina’s naast elkaar in het paspoort te zijn voor de benodigde stempels.
Indien u in het bezit bent van een andere Nationaliteit dan de Nederlandse dan even controleren bij het Consulaat of Ambassade van Tanzania in uw land. Afrika Online verzorgd geen visa.

Banks and finance
With the exception of Nairobi (from 09:00 to 15:00) and Jomo Kenyatta Airport (24 hours a day), banks in Kenya are generally only open on weekday mornings.
All major hotels and most lodges are licensed to exchange foreign currency and travellers' cheques. In Nairobi there are several cash machines (but please note that these do not always work).
Travellers cheques in US dollars, creditcards (VISA. Mastercard en Barclay) worden meestal geaccepteerd. American Express wordt niet geaccepteerd. Contant geld alleen in US dollars en in kleine coupures.
De lokale geldeenheid is de Keniaanse shilling.
Health and Safety
De zon in Kenia en Tanzania is warmer en intenser dat je kunt voorstellen. Zelfs op een bewolkte dag kun je nog lelijk verbranden. Een goede zonnebrand crème (minstens factor 30) is dan ook onontbeerlijk evenals een goede zonnehoed en zonnebril.
Drink plenty, but never from the tap; it's better to buy bottled water. Most hotels and lodges will provide drinking water in your room.
Hospitals and healthcare
If you have visited a country where yellow fever is prevalent before your visit to Kenya, vaccination against it is compulsory. There are small field hospitals dotted around Kenya.
Larger hospitals are only found in Nairobi and Mombasa. It is therefore also important to inquire about recommended vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis well in advance of your departure.
Ook is het verstandig om een kleine reisapotheek samen te stellen met o.a. imodium tegen diarree, ORS enz. (kijk ook even op www.gezondheidsnet.nl/reisapotheek. De Flying Doctors Society of Africa biedt een tijdelijk lidmaatschap aan voor toeristen tegen een kleine vergoeding. In ruil daarvoor ontvangen de “leden” gratis vervoer door de lucht naar een ziekenhuis of medisch centrum in geval van een ernstig ongeval of ernstige ziekte tijdens de safari.
Malaria
The best way to prevent malaria is to avoid being bitten. During dusk and dawn, wear long trousers and long-sleeved shirts, and use DEET on your ankles, hands, and neck.
In addition, it is highly recommended to take good malaria prophylaxis. Please consult your GGD for more information.
Photography
In Kenya, it is prohibited to take photographs of the President, police, military personnel, prisons, and airports. If you wish to take photographs of the local population, it is advisable to ask for permission beforehand.
Voor u mag het een dierbare herinnering zijn aan uw vakantie maar veel bewoners van Kenia zijn bijgelovig en willen niet dat u een foto van hen neemt. Hou uw camera in een stopvrije zak of container.
Transport
Transport during the trip is by 4x4 safari Landcruiser. Comfortable travel and excellent for game drives. If two people are booked on the relevant travel date, another, smaller type of car may be used.

Afsluiten van een reis en annuleringsverzekering is verplicht. Het afsluiten van een annuleringsverzekering wordt sterk aangeraden. AfrikaOnline kan helaas geen verzekeringen afsluiten, we verwijzen u graag door naar bijvoorbeeld de ANWB.

Om optimaal van deze reis te kunnen genieten raden we aan niet te reizen met kinderen onder de 8 jaar (uitzonderingen daar gelaten). Wel moeten er voor elk kind onder de 16 jaar tenminste 1 volwassenen meereizen.
