In short
An adventurous Camping safari in an international setting by South Africa Okay Namibia. Introduction to Cape Town and the West Coast of South Africa.

Programme
Day 1: Cape Town – Cederberg Mountain Region
Departing Cape Town on time (08:00) from the Double Tree Hilton Upper Eastside hotel and a brief stop at Blouberg Beach, offering a magnificent view of Table Mountain.
The journey continues northwards to the spectacular Cederberg Mountains, an area of dramatic mountains, orange groves and the renowned South African rooibos tea.
A stop at a “Padstal” is a must on a road trip through South Africa; here, you can buy local and homemade products and "padkos" snacks for the journey.
On this first afternoon, we'll spend some time with a briefing on our itinerary, our vehicle, and the equipment.

Day 2: Cederberg Mountain Region - Namaqualand Orange Gariep River
Today we travel north through Namaqualand to the Orange/Gariep River, which forms the border between South Africa and Namibia.
In the spring (July to September) there is a riot of colour here from wild “field flowers”.
A stop is made in the town of Springbok for supplies, then on to the Vioolsdrift/Noordoever border post to enter Namibia.
We'll spend the night relaxing around the campfire, getting to know each other better. The Orange / Gariep River forms the border between South Africa and Namibia.

Day 3: Namaqualand - Orange Gariep River - Fish River Canyon - Keetmanshoop
’In the morning, there is the opportunity to explore the river by canoe.
Choose between a relaxed morning on the banks of the Orange River or a half-day canoe trip (at an additional cost).
After lunch, we drive to the Fish River Canyon where we will stop at a viewpoint for a walk. Afterwards, we drive towards the town of Keetmanshoop.

Day 4: Keetmanshoop - Namib-Naukluft National Park
In the morning, a visit to the Quiver Tree Forest and the Giants Playground, a collection of large boulders that sometimes perch on top of each other and sometimes form a maze.
After the visit, we depart from Keetmanshoop and drive through the deserted Namibian interior. We arrive at the camp in the late afternoon.
The desert night sky is very clear and many people enjoy spotting the unique southern constellations, including the well-known Southern Cross.

Day 5: Naukluft National Park (Sossusvlei Dunes)
Getting up before sunrise this morning and driving to the Namib-Naukluft National Park.
Here we climb Dune 45 where we see the sunrise.
Then it's back to the camp for a delightful breakfast. After breakfast, a transfer by 4x4 vehicle to Sossusvlei.
Time for a walk to visit Sossusvlei and Dead Pan.

Day 6 - 7: Naukluft National Park - Swakopmund
This morning, we got up before sunrise and climbed Dune 45 where we watched the sun rise. Afterwards, we returned to camp for a delicious breakfast. After
A magnificent drive through the desert-like Namib-Naukluft National Park, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn, brings us to Walvis Bay.
We'll stop to look at flamingos (if we're lucky) before we head to the seaside town of Swakopmund.
Information is provided here about the many activities you can participate in the following day, and there is time to explore the centre of Swakopmund.

Day 8: Swakopmund – Brandberg
We leave Swakopmund and the coast behind us and drive to Wlotskabaken, a settlement between Swakopmund and Henties Bay, known for, among other things, sea fishing and the “Lichenfields”, a type of algae that grows on land in areas with a lot of fog, a peculiar phenomenon. We visit the Lichenfields near Wlotskabaken with a local guide.
Then we travel inland towards the mysterious Brandberg, the highest mountain in Namibia and a sacred place for the San people.
In the afternoon, there will be a guided walk around the rock formation and a visit to the White Lady rock painting and other rock paintings estimated to be approximately 2000 years old.

Day 9: Brandberg – Etosha National Park area
Depart from Brandberg and drive north through Damaraland towards the Etosha National Park area.
Arrival at the accommodation and rest of the afternoon at your leisure to enjoy the surroundings.

Day 10: Etosha National Park
An early start takes us to Etosha National Park for a full day game drive in the park with the safari truck.
Watering holes are visited so that you can take beautiful photos of the different animals and, of course, the vast salt pans.

Small groups mean more time for the traveller, shorter waiting times and a cosy, personal atmosphere during the trip.

Language
Since the participants on the above trip come from different countries, English will be spoken by the guide during the trip.
The tour is led by one certified guide and an English-speaking driver for optimal knowledge, information, and individual attention.
On departure dates that are in bold or marked with an *, the trip will also be accompanied by a German-speaking guide.
The language of communication during the trip will still be English.
Visa
If you hold a Dutch passport, you will need a passport for South Africa that is valid for at least 90 days from the date of arrival and has at least three blank pages.
For Namibia, a visa has been required since 1 April 2025, in addition to a passport that is valid for at least 6 months upon arrival in Namibia.
Also for Namibia, at least 3 blank pages are required in the passport for the necessary stamps.

Highlights of the trip:

Naturally, during the trip, an effort will be made to visit villages and make contact with the local inhabitants.
Transport
Transport during the trip is by a special 20-seater safari truck. Comfortable for travel and excellent for game drives. Large windows provide everyone with a good view. A roof rack and/or trailer is available for luggage and camping equipment.
Travel – Cancellation Insurance
Taking out travel insurance is compulsory. It is recommended to take out cancellation insurance. AfrikaOnline does not provide insurance.
We kindly request that you provide the name of the insurer and the policy numbers for both insurances to AfrikaOnline via email as soon as possible and well in advance of your departure.
Participation
From 10 years old (depending on the trip), no maximum age. However, at least one adult must accompany each child under 18 years old. Children between 8 and 10 years old upon request.
For travellers over 65 years of age, a health declaration is requested in response to questions from the GP. During the trip, walks will be undertaken that require a certain level of stamina.
The walks are rated as easy to moderate and are always optional. Participation in camping and cooking duties is requested on all camping trips.
Overnight stays
Camping: 8 nights camping in National Parks or cities. The campsites are generally excellent with good facilities such as hot and cold showers, restaurants, washing machines, post office/phone booths, and a souvenir shop.
Some campsites have a swimming pool.
Sometimes a campsite may be beautifully located but the disadvantage is that there are fewer facilities. The camping equipment; A spacious and comfortable igloo tent measuring 2.2 x 2.2 x 1.5 metres, which is easy to set up and take down.
The tents have “built-in” mosquito nets. Furthermore, there are mattresses approximately 5 cm thick and comfortable camping chairs with backrests.
Guesthouse 2 nights in a comfortable hotel in Swakopmund. All rooms are twin rooms with separate beds and a private bathroom, usually with a shower and toilet.
Meals:
During the trip, good and healthy meals are prepared using mostly local produce.
To give you an idea of what the meals will be like: breakfast will consist of cornflakes with milk, toast with jam, and a regular English breakfast with eggs and bacon, fruit juice, coffee, and tea.
Lunch will mostly consist of cheese, cold cuts, salads and bread (picnic style). Dinner will be the most elaborate with regular BBQs, stir-fries and the typically South African Potjiekos (an all-in-one pot dish, delicious!!!!) prepared over the campfire.
If there are special dietary requirements (due to vegetarian preference and/or allergies), please state them when booking the trip so that they can be taken into account in advance.
Coffee and tea will also be served during dinner.
Other drinks are not included and must be purchased separately. During this trip, 10 breakfasts, 9 lunches, and 8 dinners are included.
Medical conditions:
Anyone in good health can participate in this trip.
Luggage
Travel bag (due to space in the car, it is only possible to bring luggage in a travel bag or backpack) with a maximum of 20 kg p.p.
For daytime car trips, it's easy to have a small backpack for usual items like sunscreen, water bottles, sunglasses, etc. Bring your own (warm) sleeping bag and a small pillow.
