Description
In short
Four countries camping safari trip the highlights of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana Okay Zimbabwe. During the trip, Table Mountain will be climbed, there will be a day excursion to the Cape Peninsula with Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope, canoeing on the Orange River, nature drives through the Namibian desert.
Visit to the red dunes of Sossusvlei, game driving in the Etosha National Park, a mokoro excursion in the Okavango Delta, bootcruise on the Chobe River and a visit to the world-famous Victoria Falls waterfalls.
In Zimbabwe there is a game drive in the Hwange National Park and a game drive plus a rhino tracking in the Matobo National Park.
Programme
Dag 1: Cape Town
The journey begins at 13:00 at the AHA Harbour Bridge hotel with an introduction to the guides and fellow adventurers.
Then drive towards Table Mountain and a guided hike to the summit of Table Mountain.
From the summit, there is a magnificent view over Cape Town and the Atlantic Ocean. (For those who do not wish to walk to the summit, there is the option to take the cable car to the top of the mountain at your own expense and take a walk there).
After visiting Table Mountain, we'll return to the hotel to freshen up. In the evening, a visit can be made to the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with the guide, and dinner can be had at one of the many restaurants.

Day 2: Cape Town
Today after breakfast, we depart for a day trip around the Cape Peninsula. We will visit the fishing village of Hout Bay and, of course, Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, both located within the Cape of Good Hope National Park.
At the end of the day, return to the hotel. In the evening, a visit can be made to the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with the guide and dinner can be taken in one of the many restaurants.

Day 3: Cape Town – West Coast
After breakfast, depart from Cape Town and drive north. A stop is made at Blouberg beach for a photo opportunity of the unique Table Mountain.
Then, passing through the Swartland wine region and along the West Coast, you reach Namaqualand. In spring (August and early September), the famous wild flower fields can be seen here. Arrival in the village of Springbok near the border with Namibia for overnight stay.

Day 4: West Coast – Orange River
Depart from Springbok after breakfast and drive to the Namibian border. After border formalities, drive a short distance further to our destination on the Orange River.
After a quick lunch, a canoe trip on the Orange River.

Day 5: Orange River - Fish River Canyon
Depart from the Felix Unite camp after breakfast and drive a scenic route to the Fish River Canyon, the second-largest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon.
The Fish River Canyon has been formed over hundreds of millions of years and is approximately 160 km long.
Arrival at Hobas campsite and the rest of the day to explore the surroundings.

Day 6: Fish River Canyon – Namib Desert
After breakfast, depart from Hobas camp and drive to the Namib Desert and the Green Fire Desert Lodge, located on a 7000-hectare private game reserve.
The rest of the afternoon is free for you to explore the area around the camp.

Day 7: Namib Desert
Full day in the Nature Reserve In the morning, an eco-walk with an experienced guide who will explain the flora and fauna of the desert.
During the walk, we will look for animals, tracks of mammals and reptiles, and learn about the adaptations of animals and plants for surviving in the desert.
After the walk back to the lodge to relax and have lunch.
After lunch, a desert game drive through the nature reserve. In the afternoon, a traditional sundowner (enjoying a drink during sunset) and then driving back to the lodge in the dark, keeping an eye out for animals that only appear at night.

Day 8: Namib Desert – Sossusvlei
Early departure from the Greenfire Desert Lodge and drive to the Sesriem canyon and the red dunes of Sossusvlei.
The Sesriem Canyon is explored on foot, followed by a 4x4 transfer into the heart of the dune area to the well-known Sossusvlei dune, Dune 45.
Time to climb the dunes and enjoy the brilliant view.
At the end of the day, drive to the Bushmans Desert Camp.

Day 9: Sossusvlei – Swakopmund
Depart from the Sossus on Foot Camp and drive through the Namib Naukluft Park towards the coast.
En route, a stop will be made at the Kuiseb Canyon, where you will most likely see the Welwitschia Mirabilis plant, a millions of years old plant, a living fossil, which occurs only in the coastal region of Namibia and Angola and is called “tweeblaarkanniedood” in Afrikaans.
The plant can live to be 500 to 600 years old, and there are even specimens said to be 2000 years old.
Afterwards, a visit to the Walvis Bay lagoon where flamingos can usually be seen.
Continue to the town of Swakopmund, where the rest of the afternoon will be at your leisure to explore the town on foot or to partake in one of the many activities on offer.

Day 10: Swakopmund
A day off in and around Swakopmund, with time to relax or to do excursions or activities.

Day 11: Swakopmund – Spitzkoppe
Depart from Swakopmund after breakfast and drive via the Skeleton Coast to Cape Cross, where a visit will be made to the Cape Cross seal colony.
Afterwards, depart from the coast towards the interior of Namibia and drive to the village of Uis and the famous Spitzkoppe.
Here the night will be spent at the foot of the Spitzkoppe mountain, where, with a bit of luck, the rare desert elephant can be spotted.
Here at Spitzkoppe, unique rock paintings from the Bushman period can also be seen.

Day 12: Spitzkoppe - Etosha National Park

Day 13: Etosha National Park

Day 14: Etosha National Park – Divundu (Caprivi)
This morning's departure from Etosha National Park, driving north-east towards the Caprivi Strip.
Typical scenery and villages along the way, offering a glimpse into daily life here.
Arrival at Ngepi Camp on the banks of the Okavango River. The landscape here is totally different from what we've seen en route, green, lush with tall trees and large crocodiles in the fast-flowing river.
Upon arrival, time to freshen up before dinner.

Day 15: Divundu – Okavango Delta
After breakfast, depart from Divundu and drive towards the world-famous Okavango Delta.
The coming days will be spent in the Delta in search of the Lechwe antelope, the Bee-eater and the African Fish Eagle.
Tours are taken in a mokoro (dugout canoe) and game walks are undertaken under the guidance of an experienced ranger.

Day 16: Okavango Delta

Tonight's lodge is situated on the banks of the Boteti River.

Day 18: Maun – Makgadikgadi Pans
This morning a quiet start to the day after all those early mornings during the safari.
The peace, the river and the animals that come to drink there are enjoyed, or one can relax by the pool.
A walk to the village of Chenoga Village can also be organised with a member of the lodge's staff.
An early lunch and after lunch, departure for the Makgadikgadi salt pans.
Arrival at the lodge and, with a bit of luck, a sunset overlooking the waterhole and the elephants coming to drink there.

Day 19: Makgadikgadi Pans – Chobe National Park – Victoria Falls
Depart after breakfast and drive towards Kasane and Chobe National Park. In the afternoon, a boat cruise on the Chobe River in search of wildlife. After the boat cruise, drive to the border with Zimbabwe and cross the border. Drive to Victoria Falls and the A’ Zambezi River Lodge.

Day 20: Victoria Falls
Full day in Victoria Falls to explore the town and, of course, visit the famous Victoria Falls.
Today is at your leisure to visit the waterfalls at your own pace and to do other activities such as bungee jumping, white water rafting, helicopter flights and much more.

Day 21: Victoria Falls – Hwange National Park
After breakfast, depart from Victoria Falls and drive to Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe's best-known wildlife park, home to large herds of elephants and buffalo.
Further in this park are more than 100 species of mammals, including the lion, the leopard, the wild dog, and more than 400 different bird species.
In the afternoon, a game drive in Hwange National Park with open safari vehicles and local guides.

Depart from Hwange after breakfast and drive to the town of Bulawayo, the second largest city in Zimbabwe.

Day 23: Matobo National Park – Limpopo
Depart from Matobo National Park and drive to the Plumtree border post with Botswana.
After crossing the border, drive in a southern direction past Francistown towards Stevensford Private Game Reserve, approximately 20 km from the Martin's Drift border post with South Africa.
In the afternoon a final walk through the game reserve and in the evening a dinner around the campfire.

Extension of the journey

That can happen. This trip can be made on a “hop off” basis with the following options; Cape Town to Victoria Falls can be made.
On day 21 the trip ends for you after breakfast in Victoria Falls. Cost for the 21-day safari: €3484 per person, based on two people sharing a room.
The journey can also be made from Cape Town to Maun, with the trip ending on day 18.
Costs for the 18-day safari are €3336 per person, based on two people sharing a room. As a final option, it is possible to start the trip in Cape Town and end in Swakopmund.

Our camping safaris are run in small groups to offer the best and most flexible programme possible.
Small groups mean more time for the traveller, shorter waiting times and a cosy, personal atmosphere during the trip.
The average age on this tour is 38-45 but ages range from 18 to 55.
The minimum age for children is in principle 18 years, but depending on the trip and provided they are accompanied by at least one.
Guaranteed departure with a minimum of 4 booked travellers/maximum of 16 travellers.
Language
Because the participants on the above trip come from different countries, English will be spoken by the guides during the trip. The trip will be accompanied by two certified guides for optimal knowledge, information and individual attention.
Visa
If you are in possession of a Dutch passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your return from the trip, no visa is required for South Africa.
For Namibia and Zimbabwe, a visa is required, which is best arranged before you leave the Netherlands.

A visa is also required for Zimbabwe; this can be “purchased’ at the border for approximately US$ 30 per person. The visa can also be applied for online via www.evisa.gov.zw/home.

Participation
From 12 years old, no maximum age. However, at least 1 adult must accompany every child under 18.
During the trip, walks will be made that require a certain level of stamina.
The walks are graded as easy to moderate and are always optional.
On all overland journeys, participation in meal preparation, helping with the washing up, and keeping the truck clean is requested.

Lunch is usually taken on the go at a local restaurant or in the form of a picnic lunch prepared by the guides.
If you follow a vegetarian or any other diet, this can be communicated when booking.

Luggage
Travel bag (due to limited space in the car, we recommend bringing luggage in a travel bag or backpack) with a maximum of 20 kg per person.
In addition, a small separate backpack or a handy bag for personal items.
