Programme
Day 1: Johannesburg - Paje
Depart from Johannesburg (Protea Marriott Balalaika Hotel, Sandton) (approx. 06:30) and drive north to the Martins Drift border post with Botswana.
After customs formalities, drive towards Paje via the vast plains of the Kalahari.
Arrival at the Khama Rhino Sanctuary and the rest of the afternoon is at your leisure to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
During dinner, a briefing by the guide.
Overnight stay in a two-person chalet at Khama Rhino Sanctuary.

Day 2: Paje - Maun
As is usual in Africa, an early start to the day. Game drive in an open safari vehicle through the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, looking for rhinoceroses (both white and black rhinos) and the 30 other mammals found here.
After a delicious brunch at the camp, we depart from the Khama Rhino Sanctuary and drive across the vast salt pans towards Maun. We arrive in Maun and drive to the lodge, situated on the Boteti River. Tonight, we'll fall asleep to the sounds of the bush and the hippos.

Day 3: Maun – Okavango Delta
After breakfast, depart for Maun Airport for a domestic flight into the heart of the Okavango Delta.
The coming days will be spent in the Delta in search of the Lechwe antelope, the Bee-eater and the African Fish Eagle.
Excursions are made in a mokoro (dug-out canoe) and game walks are undertaken on islands in the Delta, accompanied by experienced local Motswana guides who have grown up in this environment.
Through informal interaction with these local guides, much is learned about the way of life in this remote wilderness.
There will also be plenty of time to relax and enjoy the surroundings and take a dip in the cooling swimming pool.

Day 4: Okavango Delta
Full day in the Okavango Delta with mokoro excursions and guided game walks.
Overnight stay at Guma Lagoon Camp in a twin bedded safari tent (tented camp).

Day 5: Okavango Delta – Moremi and Savuti game reserve
After breakfast, we drive to the airstrip for our flight over the Okavango Delta to Moremi National Park (Khwai airstrip). Upon landing, we will be met by 4x4 Landcruisers that will take us to the camp situated on the Khwai River.
En route to the camp, a game drive in search of the local wildlife. The next 4 days will be spent in Moremi and Savuti Game Reserve/National Park, one of the highlights of this trip.
The days are spent with game drives through the park, arriving at the end of the day at the mobile safari camp (private) in the middle of the bush and on the banks of the Kwai River. The environment is pristine and there are no permanent facilities here; everything for the camp is brought in and taken away again when we leave.
The route taken is flexible and dependent on the animals' movements and the season.
Overnight stay in the private bush camp in a twin safari tent (separate shower and toilet facilities).

Day 6 - 7 - 8 Moremi and Savuti Game Reserve
The days are spent with game drives through the Moremi Game Reserve, and/or the Savuti Game Reserve. The Central Kalahari Game Reserve and Makgadikgadi National Park are also possibilities.
It all depends on where the game is at that particular moment.
At the end of each day, arrive at the mobile safari camp (private) in the middle of the bush.
The environment is unspoilt and there are no permanent facilities here; everything at the camp is brought in and taken away again when we leave.
The route taken is flexible and dependent on the animals' movements and the season.

Day 9 Moremi and Savuti Game Reserve - Maun
One last game drive through the park and in the afternoon, drive back to Maun. There will be some time to walk through the town, do some shopping and have lunch in one of the many restaurants (own expense). Afterwards, drive to the lodge.
Rest of the afternoon at your leisure to relax, take a dip in the pool, and enjoy the animals that come to drink from the river.

Day 10: Maun – Makgadikgadi Pans
This morning offered a calm start to the day after all those early mornings during the safari. We enjoyed the peace, the river, and the animals that came there to drink, or we could relax by the pool.
A walk can also be taken to Chenoga Village with one of the lodge's staff. An early lunch and after lunch, you will depart towards the Makgadikgadi Pans.
Arrival at the lodge and, with a bit of luck, a sunset with views of the waterhole and the elephants coming to drink there.

Day 11: Makgadikgadi Pans – Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)
Depart after breakfast and drive towards Kasane and Chobe National Park.
In the afternoon, a boat cruise on the Chobe River in search of wildlife.
After the boat cruise, drive to the border with Zimbabwe and cross the border. Drive to Victoria Falls and the A Zambezi River Lodge.

Day 12: Victoria Falls
Full day in Victoria Falls to explore the town of Victoria Falls at your own pace and, of course, to visit the famous Victoria Falls.
Today is at your leisure to visit the waterfalls at your own pace and to do other activities such as bungee jumping, white water rafting, helicopter flights and much more.

Day 13: Victoria Falls - Hwange
After breakfast, depart from Victoria Falls and drive south towards Hwange village and Hwange National Park.
In the afternoon, a game drive will be taken through Hwange National Park in open 4x4 safari vehicles in search of elephants, buffalo, leopards, wild dogs, lions, and some of the other animals found here.

Day 14: Hwange – Matobo National Park
Departure from Hwange and via the city of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second-largest city with wide streets.
Then drive to Matobo Hills National Park. Arrive and game drive in an open 4x4 safari vehicle through the park.
A bushwalk led by rangers will also be created in the park, searching for the rhinoceroses that live here.
After the game drive, drive to the lodge, situated high on a hilltop with superb views over the surrounding area.

Day 15: Matobo National Park – Martin’s Drift
Via the Plumtree border post back to Botswana and drive via Francistown to the Stevensford Game Reserve. In the afternoon, a walk along the river bank for a last glimpse of the African bush.

Day 16: Martin's Drift - Johannesburg
After breakfast, depart from Stevensford Game Reserve and drive via the Groblersbrug border post to Johannesburg.
The journey concludes at the Protea Marriott Balalaika Hotel, Sandton in Johannesburg around 5:00 PM (depending on border crossing and travel time).

That can happen. This trip can also be made from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls.
Day 13 marks the end of your trip in Victoria Falls. The cost for the 13-day safari is €4,332 per person, based on two people sharing a room.
The trip can also be made from Maun to Victoria Falls, with the journey starting on day 2 in Maun and ending on day 13 in Victoria Falls. The cost for the 12-day safari is €4236 per person, based on two people sharing a room.
As a final option, the trip can be made from Maun to Maun, a 9-day journey. The trip will then start in Maun on day 2 and end in Maun on day 10. Cost for this option €4044 per person. Single supplement on request.

We conduct our lodge safaris in small groups to offer the best and most flexible programme possible.
Small groups mean more time for the traveller, shorter waiting times and a cosy, personal atmosphere during the trip.
The average age on this tour is 38-45 but ages range from 18 to 55.
The minimum age for children is 12 years.
For travellers over 55, a case-by-case assessment can be made to determine the suitability of the requested journey, and a medical “fitness to travel” certificate may be requested from your GP.

Language
Since the participants on the above trip come from different countries, English will be spoken by the guide during the trip.

Visa
If you hold a Dutch passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your return from the trip, no visa is required for South Africa and Botswana.
A visa is required for Zimbabwe.
This can be purchased at the border for approximately US$ 30 per person (subject to change).
For Zimbabwe, the visa can also be applied for online via www.evisa.gov.zwbut only after the car's registration number is known at the start of the journey.
Furthermore, there must be enough blank pages next to each other in the passport for the required stamps (allow for at least 2 to 3 blank pages per country to be visited).

Participation
From 12 years old, no maximum age. However, at least 1 adult must accompany every child under 18.
During the trip, walks will be undertaken that require a certain level of stamina. The walks are rated as easy to moderate and are optional at all times.
Team spirit is part of the enjoyment of travelling in a group, and during the trip, assistance is requested with preparing meals, cleaning the truck, and setting up camp.

All overnight stays during this trip will be in lodges, hotels, permanent safari tents, and 4 nights camping in the Kwai region.
During this trip, you will spend 5 nights in a lodge/hotel, 4 nights “wild” camping in a mobile camp, and 6 nights in a permanent tented camp.
Meals:
During the trip, good, healthy meals will be prepared using mostly local produce. The meals will largely be prepared by the lodge/accommodation where you are staying or by the guide.
Lunch is usually on the go at a local restaurant or in the form of a picnic taken from the lodge or prepared by the guides.
During this trip, 16 breakfasts, 12 lunches, and 13 dinners are included.

Anyone in good health may participate in this trip.
Luggage
Due to limited space in the car, only a duffel bag or a frameless rucksack weighing a maximum of 20 kg per person is permitted. A (hard-shell) suitcase cannot be accommodated.
For this trip, you are asked to bring an additional small backpack or bag for clothing and personal items during the 4 days in the Khwai area.
The remaining luggage will be left at Maun Camp.
