During this trip, you will visit the highlights of South Africa, such as the Panorama Route, and game drives in the Kruger National Park, in, Kwa-Zulu Natal with a Boat cruise Over Loch St Lucia.

Game drives in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, walks through the Drakensberg Mountains, walks and oyster tasting along the Garden Route, visit to the Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn.

Visit to the famous Wine regions Random Stellenbosch and of course a visit to the historic city Cape Town and it Cape Point National Park Okay Cape Cape of Good Hope.

Programme

Day 1: Johannesburg

Arrival at Johannesburg Airport and after customs formalities and luggage claim, a shuttle transfer to the Southern Sun OR Tambo in Johannesburg.

Depending on the arrival time, the rest of the day is at your leisure. At 6:00 PM, there will be a meeting with fellow travellers and the guide, where information about the trip will be provided.

Overnight stay in the Southern Sun OR Tambo hotel, twin standard room with en-suite bathroom.

Day 2: Johannesburg - Graskop

Depart from Johannesburg after breakfast (around 06:30 am) and drive eastwards towards the Mpumalanga province, a landscape characterised by mountains, valleys, spectacular mountain passes, waterfalls, and forests. The afternoon is at leisure in the village of Graskop. Vast banana plantations, sprawling farms, not a typical tourist environment but a real impression of rural life. Arrive in Graskop and the rest of the afternoon is at leisure. You can take a walk through the village or relax by the swimming pool.

Day 3: Graskop – Kruger National Park

After an early breakfast, depart (around 7:00 AM) from the Graskop hotel and drive along a scenic route to the famous Panorama Route.

The route takes you past the Blyde River Canyon, the fourth-largest canyon in the world (after the Grand Canyon and Fish River Canyon), and Bourke's Luck Potholes, magnificent rock formations shaped by erosion.

In the afternoon, drive to the village of Hazyview. The afternoon is at your leisure.

Day 4: Kruger National Park

Today a full day of game driving in an open safari vehicle through Kruger National Park.

En route, antelope such as springbok and impala, giraffe and zebra can be spotted, and with a bit of luck, also the BIG FIVE; lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhinoceros. At the end of the day, return to Hazyview.

Day 5: Kruger National Park – eSwatini (Swaziland)

Depart from Kruger National Park (around 08:00) and drive to the Kingdom of Eswatini, one of Africa’s 3 monarchies led by King Mswati III.

Eswatini is a beautiful mountainous country, and the route to Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary takes us via Piggs Peak and the capital Mbabane to the “Valley of Heaven”.

Besides a bird paradise, there are also various animals such as hippos, giraffes, zebras and different antelope species. In the afternoon, a guided walk through the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary in search of the animals.

Day 6: Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary

Today a visit to Umphakatsi Chiefs Homestead for a cultural experience, spending the day getting to know Swazi culture and their way of life.

The visit is an interactive excursion where you get to walk through the daily life of a villager.

You can help with grinding the maize for lunch, weaving the roof mats, and the daily washing at the water source.

Day 7: Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary – Hluhluwe / St. Lucia area

Depart from Eswatini after breakfast (around 8:00 AM) and drive through the less-visited southeastern part of the country to the border with South Africa and KwaZulu-Natal, with a visit to a craft market en route.

Arrive in the afternoon and the rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 8: Hluhluwe Game Reserve

This morning a game drive through the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, primarily known for its endangered black and white rhinos.

After the game drive, drive to iSimangaliso Wetlands Park for a boat cruise on Lake St. Lucia, a World Heritage site.

During the boat cruise, crocodiles and hippos, among other wildlife, can be seen.

Day 10: Drakensberg (visit to Lesotho)

Full-day excursion to the mountainous kingdom of Lesotho. A trip via the famous Sani Pass to the mountain state of Lesotho in a special 4x4-driven car.

At the summit of Sani Pass, enjoy a delightful drink while admiring the breathtaking view.

Afterwards, lunch at the highest pub in Africa. Following lunch, a visit to a Basotho village where the experienced mountain guide will explain everything about the lifestyle of this mountain people.

Day 11: Drakensberg - Chintsa (Wild Coast)

Day 12: Cinsta (Wild Coast)

Free day for personal use. Beach walks can be taken or a number of optional excursions can be booked (at a charge).

Day 13: Cinsta - Addo

Depart from Cinsta after breakfast (around 8:00 AM) and drive through the South African interior to the town of Addo. Drive via the historic Zuurberg Pass to the Zuurberg Mountain Inn.

In the afternoon, a guided walk through the Zuurberg Mountains, with stories about the first inhabitants of this area, called the “Settlers”, and you can enjoy the beautiful views and wildflowers.

Day 14: Elephant National Park – Tsitsikamma - Storms River Village

This morning after breakfast, we went on a game drive in an open safari vehicle through the Addo Elephant National Park (around 8:00 AM), known for the Addo elephant, among other things.

After visiting Addo Park, depart from Addo and drive via a scenic route, also known as the Garden Route, and drive to Storms River Village.

Stormsriver Village is surrounded by subtropical forest (Tsitsikamma Forest) and there are several marked walking trails that can be taken. The rest of the afternoon is free to enjoy the surroundings.

Day 15: Storms River Village (Tsitsikamma)

Full day in and around Storms River Village. A visit will be made to the Storms River Mouth where a walk will be taken across the suspension bridge.

There is also the possibility of a bungee jump from Africa's highest bungee jump at the Bloukrans River (at your own expense).

Day 16: Storms River Village – Oudtshoorn

In the afternoon, a visit to an ostrich farm and the Cango Caves, magnificent dripstone caves in the Swartberg Mountains.

Day 17: Oudtshoorn – Cape Town

Depart from Oudtshoorn and drive through the Little Karoo to Cape Town.

En route to Cape Town, a stop is made in the town of Robertson for a wine tasting.

After visiting Robertson, drive to Cape Town and the rest of the afternoon is free.

If you are staying in South Africa and Swaziland for no longer than 90 days, a visa is not required.

Transport
Transport during the trip is by Toyota Quantum minibus or a 14-seater Toyota Landcruiser, plus game drives in an open safari vehicle. Comfortable travel and excellent for game drives.

It is recommended to take out cancellation insurance, travel insurance is compulsory. Unfortunately, AfrikaOnline cannot arrange insurance, so we would be happy to refer you to, for example, the ANWB.

Participation
From 9 years old, no maximum age. However, at least 1 adult must travel with each child under 18. During the trip, there will be walks that require a certain level of endurance.

The walks are graded as easy to moderate and are always optional.

A medical certificate may be requested for every person aged 65 or over.
