Good2Go – The tour operator is committed to sustainable and responsible travel.
This is reflected in the “low-impact” style of travel, where all you take with you are your photographs and all you leave behind are your footprints. The tour operator, 100%, is South African-owned and strives to make a real difference to the lives of the people in the countries visited.
This trip supports the following causes: the Zululand Lodge is owned by South African owners (100%) and all staff are from the local community.
The lodge generates approximately 80% of its electricity from solar power, and the 200 hectares of land surrounding the lodge is a rehabilitated conservancy that was formerly agricultural land.
The lodge is involved in land rehabilitation, anti-erosion measures, wildlife introduction, and naturally, anti-poaching. A local crèche is also supported with, among other things, the creation of its own vegetable garden for healthy meals for the children, and play and learning materials.
Bayview Lodge is owned by a South African owner, and the staff are Mozambican.
The lodge uses kitchen waste to make compost and “grey” water to irrigate the garden. All products used in the lodge are locally sourced and produced to support the local population.
