
Mandatory customs declaration for travellers to South Africa
From 01 July 2026 is it for travellers to and from South Africa mandatory a“Online Traveller Declaration”fill in a form.
The obligation applies to all travellers, including South African citizens, and also for minors.
You must submit the digital declaration online a maximum of 24 hours before departure or arrival.
Children and babies must also be included in the declaration. It is possible to complete the form via the SARS website. www.sars.gov.za/travellerdeclaration to download the mobile appSouth African Traveller Management System / SATMs.
The information requested includes passport details, travel details, contact details, and the declaration of goods and cash.

Upon successful submission, you will receive an email confirmation. Please keep this (printed or on your phone) to show at customs.
