During these months, the vegetation is thinner and wild animals congregate at the active waterholes, making them much easier to spot. Furthermore, daytime temperatures are very pleasant and the risk of malaria is minimal during this period. If you specifically want to see the unique floral display in Namibia or the Kruger Park in lush green, then the transition months of April and October are recommended.

Yes, for renting a car or a 4×4 with a rooftop tent in South Africa and Namibia, an international driving permit (model IDP 1968) is legally required, in conjunction with your Dutch or Belgian driving licence. You can easily and directly purchase this international document at any ANWB shop in the Netherlands. Additionally, ensure the main driver has a physical credit card (not a prepaid or debit card) in their own name for the car rental deposit.
