Programme
Day 1: Entebbe – Lake Mburo National Park
Depart from Entebbe Imperial Lake Heights hotel in Entebbe at around 08:00 and drive south-west to Lake Mburo National Park.
En route, a stop will be made at a market where only drums are specifically made and sold.
A stop will also be made at the Equator where lunch can be taken (not included).
Arrival at Lake Mburo National Park and after setting up camp, the rest of the afternoon is at your leisure to enjoy the scenery.
Overnight stay in Leopard Rest Camp in a double safari tent.

Day 2: Lake Mburo National Park – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
As is customary in Africa, we’re getting an early start today.
After a cup of coffee or tea and.
Afterwards, depart from the park and drive through a landscape of banana plantations, rolling hills, and numerous small villages to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Arrival at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and setting up camp.
Hereafter, an explanation of the proceedings for the following day when the gorilla tracking will take place.
Overnight stay at Karungi Camp in a double room or at Lake Bunyonyi Overland Resort in a double safari tent with beds. (lodge or tented camp)

Day 3 - 4: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
The next two days will be dedicated to gorilla tracking.
The group is split into smaller groups and each will go with a local guide in search of a gorilla family.
Expect a substantial walk and good walking shoes and midge spray are a “must have”.
When the gorilla family is found, time is spent with the family and the guide will give more explanation about the gorillas in Uganda.
The number of permits is limited, so it's possible that part of the group will do the gorilla tracking on day 3 and another part of the group on day 4.
In the event that permits are only available on day 4, a visit to Lake Bunyoni will be planned for day 3.
On the day that some of the group do not have a permit, a walk can be made to a nearby village with a local guide.
Overnight stay at Karungi Camp in a double room or at Lake Bunyonyi Overland Resort in a double safari tent with beds. (lodge or tented camp)

Day 5 - 6: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest - Queen Elizabeth National Park (Ishasha sector)
Depart from the mountainous Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and descend to the lowlands of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
In the afternoon, a game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park in search of the animals found here, such as tree-climbing lions, various primate species, a fantastic array of bird species, and plains animals like zebras and numerous different antelope species.
Day six includes a full day of game driving in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Rwenzori Mountains – Fort Portal
After breakfast, drive through Queen Elizabeth Park and through Maramagambo Forest to the Kazinga Channel, a channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George.
Depart from Queen Elizabeth National Park via the northern gate and drive to the town of Kasese.
A stop is made at a beautiful viewpoint, where lunch will also be served. From the viewpoint, you can look out at the Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the “Mountains of the Moon.”.
The slopes of this mountain range, some 5,000 metres high, are covered with tropical rainforest and the mountain peaks with eternal snow, where the River Nile originates and is also a magnificent spectacle.
After lunch, continue driving to the town of Fort Portal, known for its tea plantations.

Day 8: Fort Portal – Masindi
Today is a long day of driving, so an early start.
After breakfast, departure from Fort Portal and via the tea plantations, drive to the town of Hoima towards Masindi, our overnight destination today.
Arrival and the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 9 - 10: Masindi - Murchison Falls National Park
Depart from Masindi and drive to Murchison Falls National Park.
The next two days are filled with game drives in the park, a visit to Murchison Falls, a boat trip on the Nile, plus a chimpanzee tracking on foot.
The southern part of the park is subtropical and wooded (an ideal habitat for chimpanzees), and the northern part is savanna and an ideal habitat for plain animals and antelopes.

Day 11: Murchison Falls National Park - Jinja
Depart from Murchison Falls National Park after breakfast and drive south to the town of Jinja, Uganda's “adventure city.”.
Located on the banks of the White Nile and Lake Victoria, Jinja offers numerous adventurous activities such as boat trips, canoeing, horse riding, white water rafting, and bungee jumping over the Nile.
Arrival in Jinja and the rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 12: Jinja

(In consultation with the guide, you can also be dropped off at the entrance gate of Entebbe Airport; the truck and the guide cannot go beyond the gate).

Our comfort safaris are run in small groups to offer the most flexible and best possible itinerary.
Small groups mean more time for the traveller, shorter waiting times, and a friendly, personal atmosphere during the journey. The average age on this tour is 38-45, but ages range from 18 to 55 years. The minimum age for children is 17, but depending on the trip and if accompanied by at least one adult, younger ages may be permitted upon request (minimum age for a gorilla permit is 15 years).
For travellers over 55, a case-by-case assessment can be made to determine the suitability of the requested journey, and a medical “fitness to travel” certificate may be requested from your GP.

Language
Because the participants on the above trip come from different countries, English will be spoken by the guide during the trip. The trip will be accompanied by two certified guides for optimum knowledge, information and individual attention.
Visa
A tourist visa is required for Uganda. The visa must be applied for before you depart from the Netherlands. The visa for Uganda can only be applied for online via the website of the Uganda E-Immigration System. Do not leave this until the last moment.
A visa can only be applied for if there are less than three months between the application date and the departure date. So, if you are departing on 1 August, the earliest you can apply for a visa is 1 May. Normally, the visa application process is straightforward.
It is best to apply for the visa approximately one month before departure. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day of arrival. There must also be sufficient blank pages side-by-side in your passport for the required stamps.

Transport
Travel during the trip is by a special Overland 4x4 safari truck with reclining seats and ample legroom. Comfortable for travelling and excellent for game drives. Large windows ensure everyone has a good view. Luggage lockers are available for personal items.
Travel – Cancellation Insurance
Taking out travel insurance is mandatory. Taking out cancellation insurance is recommended. Unfortunately, AfrikaOnline cannot arrange insurance.
We kindly request that you provide us with the name of the insurer and the policy numbers of both insurances by email to AfrikaOnline as soon as possible and well before your departure.
Participation
From 17 years old, no maximum age. However, for every child under 18, at least 1 adult must travel along. During the trip, there will be walks made that require a certain endurance.
The walks are graded as easy to moderate and are always optional.
For all camping safaris, participation is required in setting up the tented camp, preparing meals, and of course, helping with the washing up. Team spirit is part of the enjoyment of travelling in a group.
Overnight stays
Nights during this trip are as follows: 9 nights in a twin-share dome tent with stretcher beds and shared shower and toilet facilities, 1 night Masindi Hotel in a twin-share room with en-suite bathroom, and 2 nights at Adrift Overland Camp in a tented unit with beds and bathroom.
Meals:
During the trip, good and healthy meals will be prepared using mostly local produce. Meals will largely be prepared by the guide.
Lunch is usually on the go in a local restaurant or in the form of a picnic taken from the campsite or prepared by the guide.
During this trip, 12 breakfasts, 11 lunches and 11 dinners are included in the tour price.
Medical conditions:
Anyone in good health may participate in this trip.
Luggage
Travel bag (due to limited space in the car, it is best to bring luggage in a travel bag or backpack) with a maximum of 20kg per person. A (hard-shell) suitcase cannot be taken.
