During this camping safari, you will visit the Highlights from Namibia like Windhoek, the NamibRand Nature Reserve, of Rode Dunes of the Sossusvlei, visit to the small town Swakopmund.

Programme
Day 1: Windhoek
At 2:00 PM, there will be an introductory meeting at the Mercure Hotel Windhoek with the guide and fellow travellers, where the itinerary for the trip will be discussed.
Following this, a city tour of Windhoek with a visit to a local museum and church.
The city tour concludes at the well-known “Joe's Beerhouse” restaurant where dinner can be enjoyed (at your own expense, not included in the tour price).
Overnight stay in the Mercure Hotel Windhoek in a standard double room.

Day 2: Windhoek – Namib Rand Nature Reserve
After breakfast, depart from Windhoek and drive to the Namib Rand Nature Reserve in the heart of the Namib Desert with its vast plains and rocky mountain ranges.
The next two days will be spent on walks and various game drives.

Day 3: Namib Rand Nature Reserve
Full day in the Nature Reserve. In the morning, an eco-walk with an experienced guide who explains the flora and fauna of the desert. During the walk, there will be a search for animals, tracks of mammals and reptiles, and an explanation of the adaptations of animals and plants to survive in the desert.
After the walk back to the lodge to relax and have lunch.
After lunch, a desert game drive through the nature reserve.
In the afternoon, a traditional sundowner (enjoying a drink during sunset) followed by driving back to the lodge in the dark, keeping an eye out along the way for animals that only emerge at night.

Day 4: Namib Rand Nature Reserve - Sesriem
Early departure from the Greenfire Desert Lodge and drive to the Sesriem canyon and the red dunes of Sossusvlei.
The Sesriem Canyon is explored on foot, followed by a 4x4 transfer into the heart of the dune area to the well-known Sossusvlei dune, Dune 45.
Time to climb the dunes and enjoy the stunning view. At the end of the day, drive to the Bushmans Desert Camp.

Day 5: Sesriem - Swakopmund
Depart from the Sossus on Foot Camp and drive via the Namib Naukluft Park towards the coast.
En route, a stop will be made at the Kuiseb Canyon, where you will most likely see the Welwitschia Mirabilis plant, a millions of years old plant, a living fossil, which occurs only in the coastal region of Namibia and Angola and is called “tweeblaarkanniedood” in Afrikaans.
The plant can live to be 500 to 600 years old, and there are even specimens said to be 2000 years old.
Afterwards, a visit to the Walvis Bay lagoon where flamingos can usually be seen.
Continue to the town of Swakopmund, where the rest of the afternoon will be at your leisure to explore the town on foot or to partake in one of the many activities on offer.

Day 6: Swakopmund
Full day in and around Swakopmund at your own pace and time to relax or go on excursions or activities.

Day 7: Swakopmund – Skeleton Coast – Cape Cross - Spitzkoppe
Depart from Swakopmund after breakfast and drive via the Skeleton Coast to Cape Cross, where a visit will be made to the Cape Cross seal colony.
Afterwards, depart from the coast for the Namibian interior and drive to the famous Spitzkoppe, a granite rock more than 120 million years old, approximately 1,728 metres above sea level.
The night is spent here at the foot of the mountain.

Day 8: Spitzkoppe – Brandberg
This morning after breakfast, drive to the Brandberg Nature Reserve where, with a bit of luck, the rare desert elephant can be spotted.
En route, a stop will be made to visit a local Himba tribe.
In the afternoon, a hike to the famous Brandberg White Lady rock paintings.

Day 9: Brandberg – Etosha National Park
Depart from the Brandberg and drive to the world-famous Etosha National Park.
The next two days will be spent in this magnificent wild park with game drives and watching the wildlife that comes to drink at the many waterholes.

Day 10: Etosha National Park
Full-day game drive in Etosha National Park.
A stop is made at the waterhole of the Okaukuejo rest camp where you can simply sit and watch the animals come to drink for about 2 hours.

Day 11: Etosha National Park – Windhoek
After breakfast, depart Etosha National Park and drive south to the capital, Windhoek.
En route, a visit will be made to the local market in Tsumeb and Otjiwarongo for the last souvenirs, and a stop will be made at a nice spot along the way for lunch.
Arrival in Windhoek at the end of the afternoon / beginning of the evening.

Our camping safaris are run in small groups to offer the best and most flexible programme possible.
Small groups mean more time for the traveller, shorter waiting times and a cosy, personal atmosphere during the trip.
The average age on this tour is 38-45, but ages range from 18 to 55. The minimum age for children is in principle 7 years, but depending on the trip and if accompanied by at least one adult, a younger age may be permitted upon request.
For travellers over 55, a case-by-case assessment can be made to determine the suitability of the requested journey, and a medical “fitness to travel” certificate may be requested from your GP.
Guaranteed departure with a minimum of 4 travellers / maximum of 16 travellers.
Language
Since the participants on the above trip come from different countries, English will be spoken by the guide during the trip.
The trip is accompanied by two certified guides for optimal knowledge, information, and individual attention.
Visa
If you hold Dutch nationality, as of April 2025 you will require a visa for travel to Namibia, in addition to a passport that remains valid for at least 6 months after your return from the trip.
If you enter Namibia via Windhoek airport, you can apply for a “visa on arrival” at a special counter there (allow for longer waiting times) or apply for an e-visa a maximum of 90 days before departure via the following link https://eservices.mhaiss.gov.na/.
There must also be enough blank pages side-by-side in the passport for the required stamps (at least 3). If you hold a nationality other than Dutch, you will need to obtain information from the Namibian Consulate yourself.

The consequences for the individual are their own responsibility should they not possess a valid visa, passport, and/or travel documents during the journey.
If you are travelling with children under 18 years of age, you must be in possession of a copy of the International Birth Certificate.

Taking out travel insurance is compulsory, and cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.
If the insurance is not arranged through AfrikaOnline, we kindly request that you provide us with the name of the insurer and the policy numbers of both insurances no later than two weeks before the start of the trip.
Participation
From 7 years old, no maximum age. However, for every child under 18, at least one adult must travel along.
During the trip, walks will be made that require a certain level of stamina.
The walks are graded as easy to moderate and are always optional.
On all camping trips, participation is required in setting up the tent camp, preparing the meals and, of course, helping with the washing up.
Teamspirit is part of the fun of travelling in a group.
Overnight stays
Overnight stays during this trip were in tents on campsites (7x), a hotel (1x), and lodges (2x).
Meals:
During the trip, good and healthy meals are prepared using mostly local produce.
Meals will predominantly be prepared by the lodge/accommodation where you are staying. Lunch will usually be en route at a local restaurant or in the form of a picnic taken from the lodge or prepared by the guide.
On this trip, 10 breakfasts, 9 lunches, and 7 dinners are included.
Medical conditions:
Anyone in good health may participate in this trip.
Luggage
Travel bag (due to space in the car, it is best to bring luggage in a travel bag or backpack) with a maximum of 20 kg pp.
Furthermore, a small separate rucksack or a handy bag for personal belongings. A (hard) suitcase cannot be taken.
