In short
Visit German Maasai Mara in Kenya and the Mountain gorillas Okay Chimpanzees in Uganda during this “once in a lifetime” expedition through authentic East Africa.
This trip begins with a visit to the world-famous Maasai Mara with its vast, open plains teeming with animals, and where, with a bit of luck, the BIG FIVE word spotted.
Furthermore, a visit to Lake Nakuru, a magnificent lake known for its thousands of flamingos and, of course, other African wildlife.
From Nakuru towards Uganda where the main sights will be visited.
During the trip, a visit will be made to, among other places, the Murchison Falls National Park,
Lake Bunyonyi where a Gorilla trekking is made, the city of Jinja where the River Nile from Lake Victoria begins the journey to Egypt
and it Budongo Central Forest Reserve where most Chimpanzees Van Uganda life.

Programme
Day 1: Nairobi - Maasai Mara National Reserve
Depart from the Boulevard Nairobi hotel at approximately 07:00 (please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to departure) and drive towards the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. Upon arrival at Maasai Mara, you will switch vehicles and continue your journey in smaller 4x4 safari vehicles.
Before departing Nairobi, you will be asked to pack a small overnight bag for the next two days, with the rest of your luggage remaining in the truck for the remainder of the journey. Immediately upon arrival in the Maasai Mara, there will be an initial game drive through the park en route to the Maasai Mara Permanent tented camp. Lunch will be taken either at the camp or as a picnic lunch en route.

Day 2: Maasai Mara National Reserve
Today, a full-day game drive in the Maasai Mara National Reserve in a special, open 4x4 safari vehicle.

Day 3: Maasai Mara National Reserve - Lake Nakuru National Park
Up early today and a last game drive through the Mara on our way to the Gate. From the Maasai Mara, we drive north towards Lake Nakuru National Park. We'll stop for a picnic lunch at a beautiful spot en route to Lake Nakuru.
Arrival at Lake Nakuru National Park and a game drive through the park in search of the animals found here, such as white and black rhino, lion, leopard and of course numerous antelopes. A visit to Lake Nakuru with its thousands of flamingos and pelicans is naturally a must.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park - Jinja
Early breakfast and departure to the border with Uganda and the city of Jinja. Today is a rather long day with pleasant villages along the way, typical African landscapes, and of course, crossing the equator. Jinja is the second-largest city in Uganda, located on Lake Victoria.
Jinja is famous because here the river Nile begins its 6695 km journey to Egypt, finally flowing into the Mediterranean Sea. Arrive in Jinja at the end of the day and it's time to relax at the resort.

Day 5: Jinja - Kampala – Masindi
After breakfast, depart from Jinja and drive to Kampala, where the Uganda guide will join the group.
From Kampala, depart towards the village of Masindi, near Murchison Falls National Park. En route, a stop will be made at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a rhino walk.
Arrival in Masindi in the afternoon and after a brief briefing from the guide on the plans for the next day, the rest of the day is at your leisure.
A boat trip on the Nile can be booked, or you can relax at the resort and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Day 6: Masindi (Budongo Central Forest Reserve and Murchison Falls National Park)
After breakfast, meet your chimpanzee guide and trek through the Budongo Forest Reserve in search of chimpanzees (optional excursion, see travel cost for price).
For those not participating in chimp tracking, the morning is at your leisure. In the afternoon, there will be a visit to Murchison Falls National Park, where a boat cruise will be taken on the River Nile in search of animals.

Day 7: Masindi – Lake Kikorongo
This morning after breakfast, depart Masindi and drive south to Kikorongo near Queen Elizabeth National Park. The lodge is situated on a hilltop overlooking Lake Kikorongo. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure.

Day 8: Lake Kikorongo - Lake Bunyonyi
Up early this morning and after breakfast, we set off for Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is a narrow but beautiful lake surrounded by mountains and stunning scenery.
The lake is known for its large numbers of birds and a big otter population. Arrive in the afternoon and the rest of the afternoon is free time to relax and enjoy this magnificent environment.
In the evening, a briefing on the next day's gorilla tracking (optional excursion, see price below under tour cost).

Day 9: Lake Bunyonyi
Today is one of the highlights of this trip, a visit to the mountain gorillas.
An early start to get ready for the encounter with the endangered mountain gorilla. Visiting the mountain gorillas helps the Ugandan government to protect these magnificent animals.
There is a strict control on the number of permits issued daily and visitor numbers are limited. As the gorillas have borders and can easily cross into Rwanda and the DRC, the tour operator may choose to do the gorilla tracking in one of these countries, just across the border with Uganda. You will of course be informed of this before departure.
Tourism also supports the local population by providing employment and training, making them realise the importance of gorillas and, instead of hunting them, they now take it upon themselves to protect the gorillas.

Day 11: Lake Bunyonyi - Lake Mburo
Depart from Lake Bunyonyi after breakfast and drive to Lake Mburo near the town of Mbarara. Lake Mburo National Park is renowned for its numerous bird species, including the rare shoebill stork. The park boasts a diverse ecosystem with acacia woodlands, wetlands, and open savanna. Upon arrival, the rest of the afternoon is at your leisure in Kampala.

During the trip, visits will be made to Murchison Falls National Park, Lake Bunyonyi where a gorilla trek will take place, the town of Jinja where the Nile River begins its journey from Lake Victoria to Egypt, and the Budongo Central Forest Reserve where most of Uganda's chimpanzees live.

Transport
Transport during the trip is a special 20/24-seater safari truck and in some parks, a special 4x4 safari vehicle. Comfortable travel and excellent for making game drives.

Participation
From 15 years (due to gorilla and chimp tracking), no maximum age. However, at least 1 adult must travel with every child under 18 years. For travellers over 65 years old, a health declaration from their GP may sometimes be requested.
During the trip, walks will be undertaken that require a certain level of stamina. The walks are rated as easy to moderate and are optional at all times.
Participation in camping and cooking duties is required on all camping trips.
Overnight stays
In simple hotels and permanent tented camps. On request, a double bed or two separate beds, and usually with a private bathroom with shower and toilet.
Meals:
During the trip, good and healthy meals will be prepared using predominantly local products. To give you an idea of what the meals will be like: breakfast will consist of cornflakes with milk, toast with jam, and occasionally a full English breakfast with eggs and bacon, fruit juice, coffee, and tea.
Lunch will mostly consist of cheese, cold cuts, salads and bread (picnic style). Dinner will be the most elaborate with regular BBQs, stir-fries and the typically South African Potjiekos (an all-in-one pot dish, delicious!!!!) prepared over the campfire.
If there are special dietary requirements (due to vegetarian preference and/or allergies), please state them when booking the trip so that they can be taken into account in advance.
During dinner, coffee and tea will also be served. Other drinks are exclusive and must be purchased separately. During this trip, 14 breakfasts, 15 lunches and 14 dinners are included.

Anyone in good health can participate in this trip.
Luggage
Travel bag (due to space in the car, it is best to bring luggage in a travel bag or backpack, no hard suitcases) with a maximum of 20 kg per person.
For daytime use in the car and for visiting the Masai Mara, it's easy to take a small backpack for the usual bits and bobs like sun cream, bottles of water, sunglasses, etc., and for visiting the Masai Mara, a towel, spare clothes, and toiletries.
