(subject to change)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Time difference<\/strong><br \/>\nThe time difference is 1 hour in the summer months, and 2 hours in the winter months.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Banks and finance<\/strong><br \/>\nWith the exception of Dar es Salaam (from 09:00 to 15:00) and Kilimanjaro Airport (24 hours a day), banks in Tanzania<br \/>\nGenerally open only in the mornings on weekdays.<\/p>\n<p>All major hotels and most lodges are licensed to exchange foreign currency and travellers' cheques.<\/p>\n<p>In Arusha there are 2 cash machines (but be aware that these do not always work). Travellers cheques in US dollars, credit cards (VISA, Mastercard and Barclay) are widely accepted.<\/p>\n<p>American Express is not accepted.<\/p>\n<p>Cash in US dollars only and in small denominations. The local currency is the Tanzanian shilling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Health and Safety<\/strong><br \/>\nThe sun in Tanzania is warmer and more intense than you can imagine. Even on a cloudy day, you can still get badly burnt.<\/p>\n<p>A good sun cream (at least SPF 30) is therefore essential, as are a good sun hat and sunglasses.<\/p>\n<p>Drink plenty, but never from the tap; it's better to buy bottled water. Most hotels and lodges will provide drinking water in your room.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hospitals and healthcare<\/strong><br \/>\nThere are small district hospitals located throughout Tanzania. Larger hospitals are only found in Arusha and Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n<p>It is therefore also important to inquire about recommended vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis well in advance of departure.<\/p>\n<p>It's also a good idea to put together a small travel first-aid kit with, among other things, Imodium for diarrhoea, ORS, etc. (also take a look at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gezondheidsnet.nl\/reisapotheek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.gezondheidsnet.nl\/reisapotheek<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Flying Doctors Society of Africa offers temporary membership for tourists for a small fee. In return, \u201cmembers\u201d receive free air transport to a hospital or medical centre in the event of a serious accident or severe illness while on safari.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Malaria<\/strong><br \/>\nThe best way to prevent malaria is to make sure you don't get bitten. During dusk (morning and evening) wear long trousers and long-sleeved shirts and use the insect repellent DEET on ankles, hands, and neck.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, it is highly recommended to take good malaria prophylaxis. Please consult your GGD for more information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Photography<\/strong><br \/>\nIn Tanzania, it is forbidden to take photographs of the President, the police, military personnel, prisons, and airports.<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to take a photograph of the local people, it is advisable to ask for permission beforehand.<\/p>\n<p>For you, it may be a treasured memory of your holiday, but many Tanzanian residents are superstitious and do not want you to take their photograph. Keep your camera in a dust-free bag or container.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Transport<\/strong><br \/>\nTransport during the trip is by 4\u00d74 Land Cruiser safari vehicle. Comfortable travel and excellent for game drives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Travel \u2013 Cancellation Insurance<\/strong><br \/>\nTaking out travel insurance is mandatory. It is recommended to take out cancellation insurance.<\/p>\n<p>If the insurance policies are not taken out via AfrikaOnline, we kindly request you to provide the name of the insurer and the policy
