The ruined city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.<\/p>\n<p>The city dates from the period between c. 400\u20131450 AD, and in its heyday may have housed around 18,000 inhabitants, though other sources estimate 10,000.<\/p>\n<p>The ruins are spread over a large area and are mainly concentrated in three centres: the hill complex, the valley complex, and the famous Great Enclosure.<\/p>\n<p>In the afternoon, a walking tour through the ruin complex with a guide, during which you will be introduced to this mysterious culture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overnight stay at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel. Everything that is needed is brought along. The camping equipment;<\/p>\n<p>Spacious and comfortable dome tent measuring 2.2 x 2.2 x 1.5 metres which is easy to pitch and pack down. The tents have \u201cbuilt-in\u201d mosquito nets and an en-suite chemical toilet. Shared \u201cbucket shower\u201d with hot water heated by the fire.<\/p>\n<p>The tent has 2x camp beds with bed linen and there are comfortable camping chairs with backrests.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meals:<\/strong><br \/>\nDuring the trip, good and healthy meals are prepared using mostly local produce.<\/p>\n<p>To give you an idea of what the meals will be like: breakfast will consist of cornflakes with milk, toast with jam, and a regular English breakfast with eggs and bacon, fruit juice, coffee, and tea.<\/p>\n<p>Lunch will mostly consist of cheese, cold cuts, salads and bread (rolls) (picnic style). Dinner will be the most extensive, with regular BBQ, stir-fries and the typical South African Potjiekos (all-in-one pot dish, delicious!!!!) prepared over the campfire.<\/p>\n<p>If there are special dietary requirements (due to vegetarian preference and\/or allergies), please state them when booking the trip so that they can be taken into account in advance.<\/p>\n<p>Coffee and tea will also be served during dinner.
