{"id":12747,"date":"2026-05-30T11:07:44","date_gmt":"2026-05-30T09:07:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/afrikaonline.nl\/?p=12747"},"modified":"2026-05-30T11:46:25","modified_gmt":"2026-05-30T09:46:25","slug":"important-notice-border-crossing-to-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/afrikaonline.nl\/en\/belangrijke-mededeling-grensovergang-van-naar-zuid-afrika\/","title":{"rendered":"Border crossings to and from South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid wpex-relative\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p>From 1 June 2026, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) will require all foreign-registered vehicles entering or leaving South Africa to complete a temporary import declaration.<\/p>\n<p>To assist customers with this, the rental company will provide the necessary supporting vehicle documentation and a letter of authorisation upon collection of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What drivers must do: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The driver transporting the vehicle across the border must complete the SARS traveller's declaration once the vehicle has been received.<\/li>\n<li>Customers are strongly advised to complete the declaration online before arriving at the border.<\/li>\n<li>The declaration can be completed via: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sars.gov.za\/travellerdeclaration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>https:\/\/www.sars.gov.za\/travellerdeclaration\/<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Drivers should bring the following: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Passport or identity card<\/li>\n<li>Valid driving licence<\/li>\n<li>Tenancy Agreement<\/li>\n<li>Landlord's Cross-border Letter<\/li>\n<li>Vehicle documents provided at collection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Important: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The declaration is linked to the driver offering the vehicle at the border.<\/li>\n<li>If another driver brings the vehicle back across the border, SARS may require an additional declaration procedure.<\/li>\n<li>Border officials may request verification of the Temporary Import Permit (TIP).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Landlord's recommendations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Please complete your statement <strong>before<\/strong> Reach the border to avoid delays.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the driver crossing the border is listed on the rental agreement.<\/li>\n<li>Allow for additional travel time during the initial implementation period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information on the SARS Traveller's Declaration, please visit: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sars.gov.za\/travellerdeclaration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>https:\/\/www.sars.gov.za\/travellerdeclaration\/<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Vanaf 1 juni 2026 vereist de Zuid-Afrikaanse belastingdienst (SARS) dat alle in het buitenland geregistreerde voertuigen die Zuid-Afrika binnenkomen of verlaten, een tijdelijke invoerverklaring invullen.
